Key fob for y reg 2.6 estate ?
« on: 04 October 2016, 19:22:12 »

hi all
         "new"  Y reg 2.6 estate  came with 2 very good condition keys/fobs . . but . . .

They are only 2 button ones  . . .open    & lock :-\

Should they be 3 button ones for that year or do estates only have 2 button fobs?

This is my first estate  . . .so not sure .

Tailgate locks & unlocks with the doors , but it seems there may be a problem with the alarm .

When locking with the fob the alarm button red light in the centre by the HU flashes rapidly & constantly.

Been locking car by open back door method until I can find out more  :-\ :-\

Any advice from you chaps ? :y

Estates are only 2 button remotes, as the boot release isn't electric.

2 buttons as no boot to open, different battery as well from memory.

you can set the tailgate to unlock or not with the fob by setting the key to the correct position in the rear keylock, you can also open the tailgate with the key without unlocking the rest of the car or setting the alarm off, have a play.

OK thanks Nick , thanks Chris . . . correct ones then  :y      This car DOES have a boot release button in the centre

console . . but it does not work . . . . which would make sense if boot release is not electric  ::)

But at least we cleared up the fob  issue :y :y  will have a play with key in the tailgate & the alarm  :y :y

Will that switch  cause an electrical problem ?  as guessing probably just a blank should be in that space? :-\

Not sure if Im honest, the button is normally blanked off as you say, sounds like its been messed with, cant remeber what all the flashing means now, probably in the Manual somewhere. Could be its throwing an Alarm Fault, what happens when you deadlock it with te Fob (double press).

Also check the rear side window alarm sensors are there and intact.

2 window alarm sensors each side from memory . Will have a check up after work tomorrow afternoon.

Will also check the deadlocking .  Will also check out the owners manual regarding setting & alarm operation

Thanks Chris  :y
