Boris the buffoon
« on: 12 October 2016, 11:24:05 »

Boris is urging protests outside the Russian embassy in London. Like that will help matters. And talk of enforcing a no-fly zone is totally bonkers. Do they think that the Russians will just ground all of their aircraft?
The mop headed one is in danger of becoming a laughing stock on the world stage, instead of being confined to London.

Better would be to send our football fans to beat up their fans. That would send a clear message. ;D

Out of interest what would you do in his job?

Ermm....I seem to remember our football fans getting a bloody good hiding from the Russians last time out.  ::)

The whole situation is a farce. Do these idiots, issuing threats from a dilapidated parliament building of an old colonial power, really think that we have any means of stopping Russia from doing exactly what they want? At least we should keep our dignity by asking for negotiations, even if none would be forthcoming. But to threaten military action, with hardly anything to back it up, is just embarrassing.
One contributor on the news said that the last thing we need is a US/Russia conflict. I haven't heard anything to suggest that the Americans want to intervene militarily.
Just a couple of hooray henries bigging our tiny little country up, and expecting people to actually believe them.

What would I do in his job? Have the grace to admit that I know nothing about foreign policy and realise that I only got the job because I was the leading brexiteer. Shouting lies from a bus is one thing, shouting absurdities in parliament is another.

The football fans bit was irony. We got a pasting then and will next time we meet.

Interesting that Clinton has suggested she would arm the Kurds better. Quite how that would sit with Russia backing killing anyone who isn't on Assad's sid, is anyones guess. Plus The Turks want rid of the Kurds and last time I saw, Turkey is in NATO. On top of that the Kurds have said they want to keep all the territory they win for their "nation".

The UN is a totally and utterly toothless organisation. Where is the world going if no countries stand up to Putin?

Turkey is in NATO but is definitely not to be trusted. Erdogan is in the process of cosying up to Moscow while subjugating his own population. If he had Putin's power, he would be just like him.

BJ is indeed a twonk and I would not trust him to be in charge of the biscuit tin never mind foreign policy.

Erdogan is an ego maniac and most definitely not to be trusted, bit like the idiots who decided to let all and sundry into N.A.T.O.

Tin pot little countries think they can do what they want because they are part of the 'Club'

If you call a one party, one candidate election, where all opposition parties are banned, an 'election'? Assad inherited the position from his father who took control of Syria in a coup. This is normal Middle Eastern politics. Dictators stay in power until they die naturally or unnaturally or p-off enough of their citizens who band together and are stronger than them, so they get deposed and ruled by a new party and dictator.

Obama has stepped back from the Middle East and created a power vacuum which has been filled primarily by ISIL, Iran and Russia, with other bordering states also involved like Turkey and Saudi Arabia. The West are now bystanders and need to accept that. The time to impose a no-fly zone was before Russia got involved, now all it will achieve is a dangerous and unnecessary conflict in an area where the US, through Obama, has now lost all power and influence and with fracking and renewables it is rapidly losing any strategic relevance to the West. Russia is fighting the war using their normal doctrine of carpeting areas with lots of ordinance. Russia and Assad are using banned weapons and targeting banned targets like hospitals and aid convoys, but neither have ever been unduly worried about 'legal niceties'.

If it makes the West feel better then take it to the ICC in The Hague, but at best it will just make travel a bit more restricted and difficult for Putin and Assad.

Turkey was let into NATO so the yanks could keep instant buckets of sunshine there during the cold war and to give the wests strike aircraft a route into the Soviet Unions backyard.

Your spot on about Erdogan though sadly  :(
