And then ruined it by importing a whole new workforce, which made the minimum wage the maximum wage for many people, due to the over supply of cheap low skilled labour.

The Conservatives believe in what they call 'self-reliance'. This is admirable. I also believe in it, as do millions of socialists.

Where the Tories fall down in my estimation is that they have an inbuilt philosophy of  'I do well by exploiting you'......I make lots of money by getting the 'plebs and prols'  to work for long hours in poor conditions for extremely poor pay. This is why we have the working poor. Hard working people who need additional help in the form of working tax credits to survive)

Good employers do not need their workers wages to be topped up by the taxpayer because they pay a decent wage. Bad employers do. :-\

Thing is, thanks to your Socialist benefits system, the plebs and prols don't actually do anything ::)

The reason that wages are artificially low is due to the fact that an entire generation of Eastern Europeans voluntarily came West specifically to be less exploited than at home...

Low wage business  presents a great opportunity for reprobate employers. 'We get rich because the government/taxpayer makes up the shortfall'.

Individuals/companies who don't have a financially viable business should not employ people.

But this should also encourage competition which is good...

The crappy, low paid jobs would be easier to recruit for and be far more productive/efficient/profitable if wages/contracts were better. That's to say that the increased productivity would pay for better wages without affecting the bottom line ;)
