Treat myself to a net enabled Blu ray player last week.
Registered it (with card details  ) and now it is giving allsorts like Netflix, Amazon and some concert channel called Qello.

I take it Netflix ect are pay as you view channels (after the trial period has run out) but is this Qello free all the time ?
Had a look around it last night and there are some cracking concerts on there 

Also noticed that the lads blackberry and my laptop is showing on there.
Tried to connect them so I could stream music through my AV amp but it wasn't playing 
Can I take it that down to the laptops ect windows media sharing settings ?

Netflix is a subscription, monthly payment for ondemand stuff only 

Is it just music you want to stream?

If you want to get into streaming media from PC to TV, I'd have a look at some of the better DLNA servers....
Install these on PC, and you have a good amount of control over how your media is presented to the TV.

My personal fav is Serviio - http://serviio.org/
This works very well and I like the way I can choose how my media is presented

I also run PLEX - https://www.plex.tv/
This is more app driven but it does offer a wealth of other options such as remote sharing over the internet

If you just have a little music to stream, I would have thought pretty much anything would work for you, I have a huge library so its important to me to be able to categorise things as I want them.

Of the 2 so-called Smart TVs I have here, I can count on the fingers of one hand how many times I've pressed the Smart Hub button.

That about sums up how "smart" I think they are

(Granted the one in the lounge gets a really poor wifi reception (due to wifi issues in this road), and the only cat5 is plugged into the Media Center).

On the subject of streaming, are films streamed in 5.1 if it is encoded?
My limited experience of streaming from my PC has only got them in stereo, so I always end up transferring them to a usb flash drive and playing through my bluray player.

I spent about 20 minutes the other day trying to watch a you Grand Tour episode one on our Smart TV. Your browser not supported, no internet connection (for some reason the password had been lost). All that effing about moving the pointer to painstakingly type stuff (yes I do know that you can get a wireless keyboard).  Gave up and went and watched it without any trouble on my PC. That was 20 minutes I will never get back.

Yes mate, mainly music but open to offers 
I've a laptop (with gigabytes of music on), a artisan media centre ( which is connected to the music amp and the AV amp via a toslink) and the lads computer all linked via cat5 
I've also got a Wi-Fi speaker which ain't bad and is normally in the bathroom, garden or out front when i'm working on the car.
I also use the Tunein app on the phone.
Looking at maybe sending pictures upstairs next year but my knowledge is slightly higher then retard level on this stuff

I've got KODI on my media centre and have seen the plex app on there too.
I'll give that serviio a go next week if I get chance

Lucky enough, mines at 98% so not a problem but I would prefer mine hard wired anyway 

As you can see, i've plenty of kit    Just got to work out the best way to make it all work together 

Right, i've got to venture inside the M25 later for a few days so i'll try and get my head around anything else when i'm back

I quiet like Plex, handy if you do a lot of overnights, hotels, etc grab an old NowTV box side load Plex on it, add a spare HMDI lead and you have Portable Media from your Home in your Hotel Room.

Its called a network switch. I must have a spare somewhere, but seeing as Smart TVs are a waste of time, its not worth digging one out.

I wouldn't say they are a waste of time. Swmbo likes it and it keeps her quiet and out of mischief for hours sometimes.
