Some are bleating that what he has done is breaking U.S. laws. There,s an easy way to remedy that. ;D

A politician actually carrying out what they promised?  :o

Reckon that will ever catch on over here? (rhetorical question) ;)

It's really bad in our house. My wife is a modern, free-thinking, sympathetic, liberal headteacher. Whereas I am normal. It's been known to cause friction.  ;D

13th Amendment states that all persons are equal before the Law. The Law in this case being the Patriot Act...

Credit where it's due, nothing he has done so far wasn't on the list. The outrage stems purely from the fact that his pledges were dismissed as election rhetoric, when in fact he meant every word.

His head might well be up his arse, but the man has conviction. And balls.

Depends how you define normal, but either way, your sympathetic wife has our sympathy. :D

Incidentally, in this brave new world of ours, why apologise for any offence you might cause :-\

I rather doubt that. Flags and bits of desert aside, ISIS represents an ideology. Which you don't kill with bullets, bombs and melting the homes of ordinary people into glass.

Similarly, denying people entry to the US based on their religion achieves little, other than political grand standing and saving the extremists the bother of shooting a recruitment video. However, we can't really be too critical of trump on this one. We've basically been doing the same thing over Syrian refugees for a couple of years now. We just haven't had the balls to be open about it.

What I find interesting is that, secretly (in most cases), there are more supporters of Trump's actions than detractors. It's just not PC to admit it.

We've come a long way, sadly, since the days of The Two Ronnies. We are no longer able to say what we think, whether to make a joke or a political point.

This is, of course, our greatest weakness. In trying to out-liberal the liberals, the media and its luvvie followers are trying to take us down a path which is easily exploited by those who wish to destroy the Western way of life.

The US dodged a bullet in not electing Clinton.

Agreed. And my generation (the millennials) are the worst for it. Time was, when someone had a different opinion to you, you discussed, debated or even argued.

Now we (my generation) simply label them, no-platform them and belittle their opinions. Problem is, in doing so you lump in those with moderate opinions with the real extremists and create an us and them which is far bigger than the us.

Take the EU referendum as an example. The liberal pro EU lot did their level best to lump in everyone who had legitimate concerns about immigration and globalisation with the skin-headed-far-right-kick-yer-head-in-for-looking-a-but-foreign groups.

All this achieves is shut down dialogue with reasonable people and they simply act instead of talking. In the above example, in the polling booths.

In no small way, this is exactly what trump is doing to the Muslim communities both in the USA and beyond. You cannot misguidedly alienate an entire religious ideology and expect to have a positive effect on the extremists who would recruit them.

Jimmy, there is a quotation (wrongly) attributed to Voltaire that underwrites what you are sayting - "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."
Would that more people would subscribe to that philosophy.

Maybe his thinking is that it will lead to most of them becoming radicalised, and then he would have an excuse for nuking the lot of them. Or maybe he just doesn't care, as long as they aren't on U.S. soil.
Who knows ?

An almost perfect description of what happened and how it happened, Jimmy. I think it's rather more than just the 'holier than thou's' though. There are a lot of vested interests on both sides.
