Goodbye, and thanks for all the fish ;-)
« on: 23 July 2008, 04:39:28 »

In case you're wondering, the subject is a quote from the dolphins in Hitch Hikers' Guide to the Galaxy when they eventually left our planet, having trained us to feed them by rewarding us with tricks!

Anyway, what I really mean is that I've just got rid of my Omega after an eventful year of ownership, so will be leaving now.

It was a comfortable experience in the driver's seat, but uncomfortable as an owner!  It suffered almost all of the typical problems, and I had to have a new head gasket done (bloke who refurbed the head for me said it was probably the worst he'd seen).  Exhaust manifold leaking, driver's door crack of doom, blocked heater matrix, expansion tank just about to crack around the neck, needles to say the aircon didn't get cold.

Due to just having twins, I've had to get a newer, lower mileage, more economical and more reliable (hopefully) estate car with ISOFIX fittings.  But I'm missing the comfortable ride already.

So MANY THANKS to those of you who helped me out - this is truly the best owner's forum on the net.  I may still wander in and out from time to time, if that's OK with you all, as I enjoy the banter.

But cheerio for now.....

Alan

PS If anyone offers you a grey/green Omega in the Slough area, don't touch  it with a bargepole

Hi Alan. Shame you got a dodgy one. Had mine nearly 2 years, no probs until now when power steering packed up. Local member kind enough to help me out shortly. Any model of car can throw up a bad'n.
Best wishes with your twins, (boys/girls?) No need to be a stranger. :y Guy.

A colleague of mine resigned by email with that title. ;D I was one of the few who saw the funny side, but then it was a German company. ;)

You don't have to leave us just because you're between Omegas (Oh, yes, I bet you are...).

I reckon you were just unlucky with that one. Next time get a V6. Seems to me they are much stronger
