I don't think we will end up paying "extortionate exit fees". If we did we could ask for our contributed assets back. Bit like in a divorce asking for half of the house. That would create a panic as ,for example, having to privatise the motorways partly built with EU money would be an issue as the existing Spanish toll roads operators keep going bust

The EU isn't changing. Junckers five paths was just a sop to that. Two speed EU?  ;D

Youth unemployment in Southern Europe is sky high still. The Euro is still a big issue. Greece is still a big issue just being kicked down the road.

As to anyone not mentioning exit fees? Surely that was the job of the government. They should have set out the pros and cons OR represented leave with the EU representing remain.

If fascist Le Pen and the Italian clowns get elected so we have #Frexit and #Itexit, will an EU exist for us to leave on 28-03-2019 still exist? ::) ::) :o :o ;D ;D

Speaking  to a number of my French colleagues, both in France and Swiss expats, the view is that Le Pen will take the first round by a small margin and then lose out in the second round.  Personally I hope their right, but I doubt the french polesters are any more accurate than our own have been of late.

Totally agree with that. What the f*ck were the remain campaign doing?

A missed opportunity, it would have made a good counter argument to the £350 million a week Brexit bus. :-\

She may get the largest share of the vote in the election proper but still miss out. This is how it's always worked in France, every other party's will agree to a coalition just to keep her out.

She, Marine, has the spectre of her father hanging like a noose around her neck. I don't think she can win but I didn't think an old man with gingery hair could become POTUS.

Maybe, but that's not the burning question. Would you shag her?  ;D

I do find her attractive. And plenty of men have  sex with women they don't like. :)

At the risk of dragging this thread (nearly) back on topic, it seems like the Spanish are already stirring the Brexit pot, although not in a way which I thought they would:

Just more posturing. Spain likes to divert attention from its own problems particularly when run by the conservatives.

Britain won't give up a strategic med port.

Definitely not.

To do so would almost certainly signal the subsequent loss of the falklands. And there's oil under them there hills ;)

I personally think the people of Gibraltar and the Falklands should be told to either accept the fact that we can't afford to protect their little islands (nor should we try in this day and age), as they have no strategic importance and we gave up being an empire a long time ago.
If they wanted to come over to the uk, they would be given residential status and could settle here.
Gibraltar belongs to Spain and the falklands belong to Argentina. Stupid, outdated way of doing things.

Outdated yes.

But I'm not sure I would want to be part of a country or society that effectively disowns a swathe of its citizens purely out of expediency.
