Gonna run some through Ljay's MV6 as it runs a bit warm, plus we do have an invoice for an oil cooler.

Seem to remember people using it differently to advised....anyone got a definitive how2?

just used two bottles of the stuff over a week or so doing a full coolant flush following oil cooler failure. clean as a whistle now. water was running clear as anything before i filled up on the red stuff.

what is it you're having trouble with?

I used it in the MV6 I repaired that was in a bad way from an oil cooler letting go. I followed the instructions but used about 3 bottles over a 2 week period with clean water flushes in between.

I did see somewhere about using dishwaster tab in the rad. Would that help?  :-/

With Forte, I followed the destructions on the bottle.

Might be worth doing a few water flushes first, then doing a forte flush.

yeah i did the same, mixed it with water for flushing (following instructions on bottle) but also used clean water flushes inbetween. also ran the engine for a bit with the forte/water mix in, drained it, then pumped water straight through to clear out excess crap and started the process again. was into double figures re the number of flushes in the end, but totally worth it, clear as anything in there now.

the smell of the forte stuff is fantastic. citrus burst or what!  :y

I took the rad out and filled it with Fernox and boiling water then left it overnight. I had to buy a new coolant bottle because it was in a mess, fitted the new bottle to the Elite and the Elite's bottle to the MV6 :)

System has been water flushed and has newish coolant - still pinkish.

We have noticed the car runs a couple of degrees warmer than it should (confirmed by Jaime's tech2).

So was wondering how best to use it as a cleaner in this instance.

Is it safe to drive around with this in the system?

my 2 plans were to add the bottle to the coolant, use the car as normal for a week, then give it all a good flush and refil with new coolant.

or, to add the bottle, leave the car locked, but running for an hour or 2, then flush.

Any thoughts, or better suggestions?

I would flush the antifreeze out before adding the cleaner to just water - just in case the antifreeze reduces its' effectiveness or reacts with it. I would say take the car for a quick blatt then flush it out. Not sure how aggressive the flush is but leaving it in too long might not be a good thing.

dont put the whole bottle in, add about 20% mix with water to your system. i think the recommended dosage is on the bottle.

if memory serves, flush original muck out first with water til its as clear as you can get it. then put forte mix in, run engine til stat opens and put ecc on full to aid circulation. take it for a run and when it's cooled down flush out with water. with bottom and top of system open pump water through. repeat process with water. then again with forte mix. repeat the process all over again and again. you'll need to do somewhere between 12 and 20 flushes to get it clear depending on level of contamination.

it is unlikely you'll get this done in a day or two for obvious reasons, and as you're only adding a 20% forte mix i wouldnt worry about running the car with it in providing its not in for excessive periods. a day is fine and if anything will ensure it is reaching all the parts it should. my complete flush took a week to do. others on the forum report two.

i used two bottles of forte in total, and the water was running as clear as ive ever seen by the end of it. finally emptied out the clear water and started adding a 50/50 mix of the red stuff. depending on your method of flushing, you will need to flush the red stuff through two or three times as the v6 only half empties its coolant system when you open the radiatior valve.

hope that helps  :y
