Bowling.
« on: 25 August 2008, 00:24:02 »

Hav'nt been for years. A few of us went tonight & i thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm no expert but there's something rewarding winding a pearler down the lane & sending the pins flying. Managed 3 srikes over 3 games, hit nothing with a few, did'nt even miss smoking for a coulple of hours! :y
Had a table booked @ a recommended Indian (new to me) Prawn Puri starter, Methi Gohst with green chillies & a Saag Aloo side dish, mmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!. Only downside to a good evening was one of the party does'nt like Indian food, no English food on the menu so a steak meal was pre ordered. When it arrived it was a kids portion, the chips were frozen fries, & it was billed @ £22.50 with a glass of coke! When questioned they said they had to go & buy the steak, cook it etc as it was an off menu meal. Most Indian/Chinese have an English menu in house to cater for all. My All mine with a pint only came to £17 & was spot on. We paid but made it clear we would'nt be back on the strength ot thier greed. They've lost some regular & new customers. Shame as otherwise excellent. ::)

Last time I went bowling, started with a turkey, then ended up throwing next 2 down the gully  :-[

I used to be convinced my bowling ability was drink-related.  ;D I'd quickly chin 2 or 3 pints thinking this would get me into the "zone". Unfortunately having built up a bit of a beer momentum this quickly became 6 or 7 pints which certainly didn't do much to improve my bowling.  :-[

It certainly does seem to be difficult to achieve consistency.

I always hit the zone just before finishing 2nd pint, and lost it by the 3rd.  After 3 games and around 8 pints, I was lucky if I threw it down the right lane....

I'll have you know, apart from a quick beer with my tea last night, I haven't touched a drop since I went to The Crown on Friday night...
