With a '3' 3G data card, same laptop, same position for the dongle, 3 mins later, the results are:-

FFS... thought i would be clever and test my home connection from work using Remote Desktop... However when I disabled the internal LAN, it killed the server!

Yes, looks like you just got your ADSL connection from it.

I tried RDP, but it was abysmally bad - something like 2M down, 1M up.

I will have to do from office tomorrow, if I go in.

Then, to be really clever, I though about doing it from one of the News servers - 1Gb of unfettled connection, straight on the Colossus backbone, but probably a bit naughty ::)

You HAVE to test it out  ;D

I need to find a way of making my server ALWAYS connected to the internet. If anyone knows how, let me know! (windows 2003 server btw, with a usb ADSL modem). Any ideas??

The plan was to disconect the LAN as my sister will prob be using her pc on the internet! (or at least she was!  ;D)

God knows why, but its disconnected from the web too?

Just notice my avatar has now gone too! DUHH! :'(
