Yep me too. When I was about 10 or 11 I nicked one of my Dad's JPS Black and went up the woods to try it. 

Coughed my lungs out, hated the taste and that was that.

My initial experience was the same, but I persevered and became a full blown addict. Started trying to stop when I was 17 and finally succeeded when I was 40.

Couldn't afford a whole pack of 10 or 20 as an eleven year old. Not a problem though, as the the newsagent was more than willing to sell us kids 'single ciggies' at a criminal price.

Weights or Woodbines in my school days. Does anyone rember the long ones called Joysticks? Right old cancer sticks. 

My Granny used to send me to the wee shop round the corner for 5 Woodbines when I was 7 years old. Old witch didnt even give me a penny to get four Blackjacks for myself. 
This would have been when she was short of money because her old man had drunk it all. She normally smoked at least 60 Gallaghers Greens a day. Needless to say, she never saw 70.
Having said that, never did my Mum and she never smoked or drunk alcohol in her life.

I remember buying 12 blackjacks for a shilling (1d each) but when we went decimal, they were 1/2 new pence each, so for the equivalent 5p / old shilling, you only ended up with 10 - somebody profited from the kids spending money.
