do those Apple tablets not have a scroll function so you can go to the bottom of an edit and use the quote function correctly  :-\ :P ;D
Always start a sentence with a Capital letter. ;)
Sentence  :o
Are the grammar police sending me to jail ?  :D

I'm a builder ,not an English major   ::)
My first language is mostly grunts and sucking air through my roll up ciggy or teeth  ;D

I'vE learnT mE lesSon ,to use SHOUTY CAPitALS  can me sentence be reviewed yoUr hoNouR  ?  :P

That really made me laugh Dave. When we had our roof completely replaced , the builders communicated using grunts and other strange noises. The most memorable being NNNRRRRRRG. A sound impossible to capture in letters alone. . We think it might have meant yes that is right or perhaps I will think about it.

I know it's Fox News, but the interview about three minutes in should serve as a stark reminder of why those interpreters etc should be treated with caution.

We could be about to import tens of thousands of active terrorists...

Playing devils advocate here. Its all well and good saying leave them to it etc. etc. but looking at the big picture, China and Russia are going to use this situation to bring the region into their sphere of influence, get the rights to minerals mining etc. and the West will be weakened even further.
Its likely we will now face more terror attacks once they get themselves organised again.
This is a major humiliation for the West in General and the U.S. in particular.
If we had stayed we could have carried on supporting and training the Afghans with the small forces that we had there until recently.
There had been very little aggression towards the foreign forces recently, so there was no big risk.
The days of coffins coming through Wootton Bassett on a regular basis were long gone.
How long did the Brits and the U.S. keep a force in Germany after WW2 ?

Bring the region into their sphere of influence Russia? You know that the Taliban are the Mujahideen, that the Americans aided(with money, equipment, training) against the Russians? The exact same people.

A major humiliation. Nothing new there, this our fourth go.

There was no big risk. Yeah, it only took them a day to frighten off the 'legitimate' government. A whole day. With no warning.

Think you are right.

Trump and Biden were just looking at votes sadly. Lack of long term vision.

I wonder if the 20,000 Britain is promising to take is a figure tacitly agreed behind the scenes with Europe or pre empting the EU agreeing figures which then inevitably ( like is happening in Britain already) will be up for negotiation or outright rejection by Hungary etc. 400000 refugees divided by 20 countries equals 20k each. Quite a few years ago St Marks in Leicester took 10,000 Somalis.

As said, how many are fundamentalists.

This matters not. Your sworn enemy one day can be your most valuable ally the next, if it suits your / their agenda.

The reason it took them a day to frighten off the Govt. was because the Govt. had been abandoned by its allies so they took advantage quickly.
Apparently many of the soldiers ,Policemen , civil servants etc. werent paid their wages on a regular basis, as their bosses pocketed the money when they felt like it.
The money was supplied by the Yanks, UK  and others, but no-one bothered to keep a close eye on the money in one of the most corrupt countries anywhere.
Therefore, those who relied on the money from foreign Govts. simply gave up taking any risk and walked out of their jobs, when the chances of being paid went from being unpredictable to highly unlikely.

The Taliban, for their faults are well funded. They pay consistently, and pay more, so the fact that it has basically taken a month to obtain control over the whole country doesn't take a genius to work out...

The American trained and equipped Afghan Army was probably waiting for the Taliban to turn up just so that they could get paid. And if that wasn't incentive enough, going along with the Taliban is alot easier than trying to go against them.
