Check out this article from the BBC website where there are about twice as many coppers as protesters just stood about letting these idiots cause massive disruption!   

Why TF didn't the police just chuck them in the back of the vans a cart them off straight away so people could get on with their business?   

There's also a tweet in the article from Surrey Police saying a number of people were arrested, and I wouldn't mind betting that they arrested frustrated angry drivers who tried to move the protesters themselves.

I caught a bit of a Nick Ferrari interview earlier where they were discussing why the Police took so long to clear the protestors out of the way. The fella (I don't know who..) was saying that back in the day, most coppers were big hard working class ex forces types, but these days they're mostly middle class Guardian reading graduates, who have more empathy with the protestors than the general public trying to go about their business.
