She's taken herself upstairs to isolate and just had news that her dad has lung cancer and multiple brain lesions. We were quite happy when we got up this morning 🙄
Sorry Uncle Stemo
Not the sort of news you want to hear just before Christmas
I wish your good lady a speedy recovery
Thanks, Dave. She's not bad, bit of a sore throat. It's the slave you should feel sorry for, I'll have the fickin stair carpet worn out........and at my age too  :(

When I go out with doggie/shopping, I might just be a bit longer than usual  :)

It always seems to be the time of year for that sort of news. A few days isolating won't solve anything, but will be a good opportunity to shut off from the world and take stock...

Germany has introduced restrictions for British travellers due to our apparent high Covid cases, and if you want to visit the Fatherland you have to show a negative test and quarantine for 14 days!  :)

Today's stats show that the UK recorded 82,886 new cases in the last 24 hours and Germany only 14,217, so they might have a point no?  ???

Well Germany carries out about a fifth of the tests that the UK does, so a fifth of 82,886 is 16,577 which would mean that Britain's case rates are similar to Germany's if we did the same amount of testing.  :y

France also has introduced restrictions for travellers from the UK and yesterdays Covid stats were: UK 93,045  France: 58,128, so they also have a point no?

Well France does about half the testing that is done by the UK, so lets double the French stat from yesterday as a rough adjustment and they had 116,256 new cases as opposed to the UK's 93,045.  :)

Now as the old OOF saying goes. I'm just the stupid boy from the local comp with a CSE Grade 2 in Maths, (So feel free to shoot me down in flames!) and I know that there are lies, damn lies and statistics, but strange that Britain's corrupt main stream media have never looked at this angle?  ???

So maybe we're not quite 'Plague Island' after all, unless I have this totally wrong?  ???  :-\  ;D

When Dave emerges from under his mattress for his evening pee and Horlicks, I'm sure he will tell you that you've got it all upside down...  ::)

I don't go under my mattress ,it's a waterbed ,it contains over 1000 litres of water (and disinfectant)   ::)

Hospitals are filling up again with that "mild" variant of Covid that made so much press "hysteria"

I guess it's not that "mild" after all then  ::)

It's not just the virus that is bringing this country, Europe and, to some extent, the rest of the world, to a grinding halt, it is the fear that goes along with it.
Some talking head on telly said today that there could be as many as 50,000 NHS staff isolating by Christmas. So lots more sick people and a lot less staff to look after them. That is just one of many tales of woe that are issued on a daily basis. These predictions cannot be ignored by government, that is obvious, so how can government make the right decision?
We can all argue from our our various standpoints but, as I see it, there can only be one way.
Human life must always be the priority. So...if the government make the wrong decision and it costs lives, that is much worse than making the wrong decision and wrecking the economy. Which is why (now, not necessarily in the beginning) the government will always appear over cautious. By government I mean governments, of course, and this is probably why the Likes of France and Germany really don't care about what we think. They must be seen to be protecting their own.

Oh yes and I don't blame France and Germany or any others for that matter as it's a great look for their governments.  Look, we're protecting you from those nasty covid ridden Brits!   :)

If I'm right though and our covid infection rates are similar when adjusted for testing rates, why don't our government call them out?  ???  ::)

I don't expect the corrupt media to call them out because they are still looking out through their salty Brexit tears and want us to think everything is better on the continent.  It's not. The Netherlands are now in hard lockdown.  Hopefully we won't follow suit.  :-\

Why don't our government call them out on what? They are sovereign states, they can do as they like. This is especially true as we're no longer a member of their club.
