The other thing is that there have been suggestions that he is not well and has Parkinson's disease.  I noticed last night on the news, that as he walked across a room to a podium his right arm was completely still, as if he has had a stroke or something.  :-\

Maybe he thinks time is not on his side....

An old uncle of mine suffered with Parkinson's. He was never still and shook like a shitting dog most of the time.

Yes, the RE teacher at school had Parkinsons.  We called him The Shaking Budda!   ;D

It comes in many different forms, my sister has it but no shakes just everything slowed down
My aunt, who has sadly just died, had that variation too. No shaking at all, just had great difficulty in stringing words together and concentrating. As for my neighbour, the poor sod just can't keep still.

Neither variant sounds much fun so we must enjoy ourselves while we can. :-\ :y

Not sure if this invasion could have been avoided but I think it became more likely when the doddery senile kiddie sniffer replaced the fat orange pussy grabber.

Putin and his mate Winnie the Pooh  view the west as effeminate and soft. They don't stand around wringing their hands over diversity and inclusion, BLM, and gender identity in Moscow.
Donald would have told his mate Putin he was welcome to Ukraine, and Europe for that matter, and offered him the weapons to do it with. He is a burger munching coward.

Well, he wouldn't have hesitated to restrict Russian access to Swift because he's reliant on Russian oil imports... A situation directly attributed to Sippy Cup policies.

Directly attributed? By who?
I think he would have hid in his bunker scoffing MacDonalds cheeseburgers  ;D

Numerous law court actions proved there’s was no truth in Trumps claims, and even Republicans now accept the talk of stolen votes was rubbish.

I cannot believe this type of discussion is still taking place when there are far more important factual and threatening actions happening. ::)

I think despite his obvious faults, Trump was unpredictable which made Putin, / Chinks / little rocket man etc. nervous of doing anything radical.
He didnt really think or act like a politician so they couldnt read him which might have kept things in check to an extent.
Now Biden is there its obvious to anyone who isnt a dyed in the wool Democrat that he is a daft old bugger who hardly knows what day of the week it is.
He is never going to present serious problems to any of them.
Couple that with Boris, Macron, the new kid on the block in Germany  and Ursula Van wasername heading up the EU- the West doesnt have any leaders who Russia or China should get too worried about.
Andrew Neil wrote a good piece in the Wail about the situation today.

The US was self-sufficient for fuel.

Sippy Cup decided, in the name of environmental goodness to import oil from, amongst other places.

Now he cannot invoke restrictions on Russian international Bank transfers for two reasons...

1. He would then be unable to pay the Russians for their oil.

2. The Russians would cut the supply off if he tried. (arguably rendering point 1 moot).

Publically calling it a 'minor incursion' effectively gave Putin a green light, and the inability of Sippy Cup to go as far as required wrt sanctions suggests that he does not hold NATOs best interests in mind.

What Trump might or might not have done is irrelevant. Sanctions are currently our only weapon and should be used fully and swiftly to cripple Russia.

Once the next revolution dethrones Putin we can assist with rebuilding their economy.

Yep I'm not going to get into that argument either as Trumpy is yesterdays man, and I've not made any claims about that election either.  :-X

I'm just open minded to the possibility that something might have happened that's all.  ;)

If we're talking about Presidents, then the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy is the man of the moment and is showing all rest what leadership is all about!  :y

I have to admit that when he was elected I chuckled at the news that the Ukrainians had elected a former comedian for their President, but cometh the hour cometh the man and in my book the guy's a bloody hero!  This is his moving address to the Russian people as the Russian army rolled across the border into Ukraine on Thursday night.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-zilnPtZ2M

Apparently the Americans offered to help evacuate him.  He replied that he needed ammunition not a ride!

I doubt Boris or Starmer would be so keen. ::)

They breed them pretty tough in the East unlike the 'nancy boy' mentality we have here.

Apparently American sanctions on Russian banks don't come into effect until 26th March!  :o

That gives the Russians a full month to move their cash. It's just pathetic!  >:(

I expect it's much the same for UK sanctions as well.  :-\  ::)

Sanctions won't work and Vlad will have figured any sanctions into his calculations. They will 'inconvenience' him and that's about it.

However, boots on the ground could start WW3. If  push came to shove I reckon Putin would push the big red button.

No easy fix, sadly. :-\
