If my fuel bill goes up to around £6000 per annum, as is being mooted, I could install three wood burning stoves for the same price, apparently. I already have an open chimney breast in the living room, I could open up one on the first floor and one in the attic. Lovely and toasty and just the cost of a few sticks to find.

Edit: I was replying to my own boiler post

If they're going to ban gas boilers, don't you think they'll ban open fires and wood burners as well?  ???  There's already restrictions on what types of wood you can burn on domestic fires.  :(

Also I think you'll find that the cost of a few sticks will be prohibitive as everyone will have the same idea and demand for wood will rocket!  ::)

Not so clever huh?  :P  ;D

If I can't get hold of a gas boiler, I'm fooked, but try and stop me burning wood. No one else will think of my brilliant idea, so there'll be lots of sticks  :P

I am no aviation expert, but from a business point of view I know billions of dollars, pounds, euros, are invested in the aircraft industry and the infrastructure to go with it. Too much for any organisation or nation to lose, when there is a vast market of consumers wishing to either go on holiday, on business, or emigrate to other countries, let alone send air freight.

Rather than listen to anymore of that over inflated, stupid bitches negative thoughts, and that is all they are and about as worthy as anything she has so far failed to do, I have read this, one of many positive reports about the future of air travel:

https://www.airport-technology.com/analysis/reach-for-the-sky-the-next-generation-of-aviation/

That is all far more believable and from sources who know far more than Katie Hopkins will ever will!! ::) :D ;)

You'll have a heat pump and you'll shiver with the rest of them.  :)

There's a lot of pie in the sky (if you'll excuse the pun) about future green aviation technology.  Doubtless things will change and eventually the technology will emerge, but in the meantime I think that Katie Hopkins is right about this.  Maybe the 5 year timeline is a bit out, but don't forget that Net Zero by 2050 is law and I don't see any politicians out there who would even dream about repealing it.  ::)

What do you think will happen if there's no green aviation technology by 2050, or whatever arbitrary date gets dreamed up and put into law by some virtue signalling idiot whose spent too much time listening to the musings of a Swedish school girl?  ???

Some positive BA news for a change...

https://airportindustry-news.com/aemetis-to-supply-iag-with-saf-at-san-francisco-airport/

Which just goes to show that with a bit of thought, going green doesn't have to be electric.  8)

Incidentally, if you really want to make Heathrow efficient, open it 24/7 and pace the flights rather than rushing around trying to get everything done in 18 hours...

Re boilers...

If you think you might need a new one in the mid term,  buy it now. If you already have one then they can't make you not have one.

You think?  ???

My guess is they'll pass laws forcing us to have heat pumps or some other electric heating system.  ::)

Net Zero remember?  :-X

Does recycling unsold stuff not count then? Or should we keeping shipping perfectly good electrical to Africa to be broken down just to keep factories open producing stuff to replace the things we just threw out. And shipped to Africa... etc,  etc  ::)

Perhaps an orderly cull of the middle classes would be more efficient all round? A couple of billion less people would certainly help stretch resources somewhat.

It's just the law that this country will have to be Net Zero by 2050. That's a fact and you can all mock as much as you like, but facts are facts.  ::)

If anything, I reckon it's more likely that the date will be brought forward than scrapped, that's how deep this madness runs through the establishment.  :-\

In eight years time it will be impossible to buy a new diesel or petrol car in the UK and that's not far away.  Think about that.  2014 doesn't seem long ago does it?  ???  ::)  :(

If folk want to worry about all the " could happen, might happen, will happen" let them, personally  I won't be, life's too short and thankfully in 2050 I doubt if I will still exist.

Don't you have children and grandchildren Mick?   Don't you care what sort of world they will live in?  ???  :-\
