I dont buy that tbh. We are told that employers in hospitality, farming and many other relatively low skilled industries have a dire shortage of workers. They blame Brexit and it causing the end of an almost infinite supply of low skilled / low paid workers.

There is an issue that employers aren't paying enough for people to do certain jobs (supply and demand working not the way they want it to). But, the number of over 65's went up about 23% from 2009 to 2019, vs an overall population increase (including the 'mass immigration' everyone gets so worked up about) of 7%. The government reckons that in 20yrs time 25% of the uk population will be over 65 - 17.4m people.

Even if you could manage to turf everyone off employment benefit and into jobs that are well paid enough fpr them to pay a reasonable level of tax, you can't bridge the gap without a lot of immigration. Particularly while every government remains obsessed with the triple lock on pensions, which even a simpleton can see isn't sustainable in the long term.
Turn off minimum wage. Permanently.

It sets the going rate to a minimum at the expense of free market and the resultant wage increases and fundamentally fuels inflation.

Living wage can follow closely behind. If you want someone to work for you in an area where housing is expensive, either pay a fair wage and provide accommodation/housing or pay the market rate for the position respective of the local housing cost.

Equally, if you can't afford to live on the wages you earn, work more and/or move to somewhere where you can.

Hardly rocket science.

A few " dodgy" foreign shops sprung up in town here over the last few years, very rarely see anyone in them but I have seen suitcases being taken from the boot of a Bentley & placed in the boot of an Aston Martin twice when out walking the dog in the evening.

Bodyparts? :o  ::)  ;D
Can't get many Omega body parts into an Aston Martin though.  ;)

Turn off minimum wage. Permanently.
I'd probably start by turning off the benefits system...

One in six living here now we’re not born in Britain

About 17%

That does not mean the remaining 83% are of English/British ethnicity. Far from it.

One in six living here now we’re not born in Britain

Is that using the entire population? The first thing to do when presented with a statistic is to perform a plausibility check: count all the people you know, and check how many of them weren't born here. Of all the friends, family and people I meet regularly there are four who weren't born here: a German, Pole, South African and my French cousin who is a British citizen through her mother. That would imply a sample size of 24 people. I doubt this is particularly unusual.

Now consider that 21%(one in five; a close number) of the population is under 18 and perform similar calculations.

Also, the birth rate has fallen lower than is necessary to keep the population stable, creating an aging population which in turn leads to a potential finance crisis. This is common throughout the western world.

None of that means we shouldn't control out borders better. Considering that Britain is an island, that ought to be easier than France or Germany which have immigration problems of their own. The only way to stop the illegal immigration that is the real problem is to make it worse for them here than at home. Anyone who wants to do that to their own country is a oppsing idiot.

London makes for some interesting population statistics.

Best figure I can find is that overall London is now only 44.9% British white. The borough of Newham comes out at only 29% white.

John Cleese recently said that he 'didn't recognise' London these days. Of course, he was promptly slapped down as a white racist bigot. ::)

When. I saw the 1 in 6 figure ,  I googled and found this . https://migrationobservatory.ox.ac.uk/resources/briefings/migrants-in-the-uk-an-overview/

Seems about right.

As a Johnny Foreigner living in Spain, I am only too aware of how the locals view “ us”. Some Spanish friends no longer use their nearby cafe due to Brits who turn up regularly and dominate the environment talking loudly in a foreign language ( English)

Back on the subject of dubiuos Albanians. Why not take them back by cruise ship to Albania for vetting by Albanian police ?. That could be a very drawn out process leading to them deciding to go home.

I presume Manston still has a runway?  ???

A daily shuttle to Tirana would be common sense, and would be quick and efficient particularly for people like this chap!  :-X

Alternatively, Doncaster airport (Robin Hood?) is closing down, so the Govt could requisition that for a processing/deportation centre. I'd imagine you could build a sizable tent/portacabin city for illegals in the grounds and daily 'rehoming' flights could depart for all the poor souls who have been trafficked here!  :y

The media imply that those trafficked here are victims brought here against their will, so common sense implies in turn that they will be grateful for a free flight home!  :)

Yes the law needs to be changed and quickly.

It would be nice if the Tories actually did something for the British people with that big majority we gave them!  >:(
