Having read through that and taking into account everything discussed on here, plus my health situation, I think the best thing to do is take my pension and bank it. Then when swmbo reaches state pension age in 2028 advise her to defer hers for a while.
Its probably the best compromise to try and cover the various possible scenarios.

Idiots on eBay.

Seller is selling an item on their own website for €20, and on eBay for £40. Only it's not £40, it's £48 with the VAT. Fine, that is what it is.

Nearly a month ago I requested a shipping price as it wasn't specified as an amount but rather simply "Freight, contact seller".

Obviously didn't get any response at all to the request.

Two days ago, the item is still available. So I make an offer of the asking price for the item to be delivered to the UK.

They accept but I can't check out as they haven't specified shipping. So I request a total based on the offer I made that they accepted... ie that it reflects the included shipping.

Get an invoice today for £90... The original £48 plus £42 (35+vat) for shipping.

They can jog on if they want me to pay for something that they agreed to include in the sale price.

Even with their snidey shipping BS it's less than half the new price, if it's even available, although €20 is nearer the market rate for the actual item.

Every time I wash the cars, five minutes later they are covered in blossom and what looks like seeds. Also, pigeons that use the tree are leaving humongous dollops of bird crap on the cars. Did both the Omega and the Mazda 6 yesterday, wasn't worth bothering. We had 7 Turkish barber shops spring up from nowhere.

Before that we managed with one 'old style' British barber run by an old fella, and one hairdresser for the girls.

How the local council give these 'new boys' the green light I'll never know.
