Might be stuck hydraulic valve lifters.
What grade of oil is in the car and when did you last change it?

Some members swear by Wynns hydraulic valve lifter treatment.

Might be wise to remove the timing belt cover and check that the timing belt is still correctly aligned.

Oil is GM 10-40, always changed in 5000 km intervals.
But engine has done around 1000km after head gasket change with new belt and tensioners.

That's definitely not right.

Oil pick up tube blockage?

So, remove sump, clean strainer if there are debris, fresh oil and filter and fingers crossed?
Noise just sudenly appeared, out of the blue

Which suggests a blockage.

This was what happened to my engine when the strainer got blocked : https://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=122287.0

Some mucky pictures for you to compare. If there are chips of white metal in the sump when you drop it, then you're probably going to have to do a full bottom end rebuild.

did the noise just suddenly happen whilst driving or did it occur after a few repeated short starts such as moving it around the yard etc . a stiff lifter can sometimes make a noise after this and once the engine warms up the lifter will usually start to adjust itself as normal.
oil starvation from the pick up pipe is a common issue but can be checked with a pressure guage anyway .

I got the oil pan off...there is no glitter or any residue. I've found two small metal pieces in the sump and one in pick up strainer. Pics follow
