...and make sure you get the right wattage bulbs as it's all too easy to buy the wrong ones. Correct wattage is 3W I think. Anything brighter and the brightness is totally different to the rest of the dash illumination including the CID.

Actually, that's another two/four bulbs worth changing whilst you're in there

Also, you'll need to unplug the MiD/CID as you remove the cluster. Pull the cluster straight out, then roll the top towards you and you should be able to release the plug.

No changeable bulbs in a CID, backlights built into the LCD panel.

I believe the car has ncdcxxxx with Gid fitted. Cant remember if GID has bulbs in the back as I havent seen one for a long time.

Well, the Vx dealer has stated the bulbs I require are no longer available.  However, the parts manager is seeking out a supplier for the correct ones.

At the same time I wanted to order a top hat gasket for the breather;  discontinued I am told!!   But at least I have a product number to use with other suppliers....Autodoc??

That will be the bulb drawer at any competent motor factor. The speedo bulb is probably one of THESE, which is a very common part.

yes .we dont mean to sound rude but you need to stop thinking that the dealers have any interest in our cars regardless of how helpfull they appear to be.   virtually all service parts ,suspension parts ,electrical parts can be sourced easier and way cheaper at normal factors.

Yes, I know that having had to shop all over the place, and especially in Germany, for Omega parts.  So often these parts are now very rare, as I found at the beginning of last year trying to source an alternator.  Now I cannot find part no. 90467543, the top hat gasket/seal.  No-one so far seems to have them!! Not even Autodoc or all the usual online Vx/GM/others web sites here, in Europe, nor the USA!

As for being helpful, the parts manager at my Vx dealership is actually trying to source the parts I need from all over, but he admitted to me today that many Omega parts are almost gone from even Germany.  He mentioned that for Vx cars it has become critical, with even Opel parts now drying up, and he is has become frustrated by it all, that started with GM disappearing. 

All we can now do is just pursurvere and chase in all the corners of the parts world.

Not even Autodoc or all the usual online Vx/GM/others web sites here, in Europe, nor the USA!

I managed to buy a brand new top hat seal in GM packaging last week on Ebay. It was in the UK too - £5.00 plus postage. Not gloating in any way; just saying that occasionally they do crop up. Unfortunately, like rear self levelling shocks and other select parts, GM was the only source as they weren't made in the aftemarket by other parts manufacturers.

Lizzie, please note the probably in my post! If I remember correctly, the Omega instrument panel has two different size bulbs. I would remove the panel, remove a bulb then using it as an example buy new ones from a physical shop. Replace them all, as bulbs of different brightness is really annoying.


GM selling their European operations isn't the biggest cause of Omega stock disappearing. That is time; how many manufacturers keep specific items for a vehicle that's well over twenty years old?

I would remove the panel, remove a bulb then using it as an example buy new ones from a physical shop. Replace them all, as bulbs of different brightness is really annoying.

Thanks Nick.   Yes, I did note your "probably", but decided I would buy those anyway as Autodoc have checked they will be right for my vehicle, and I pay a little extra to have the right to return if they are not.  For me the risk is worthwhile, as yes, my vehicle is now 22 years old and I know I will have to seek out parts wherever I can.

I have typed in the part number and product description multiple times now on many web sites, but even if the product is recognised, I am repeated ly told "Out of stock"

I will keep on trying, although one very kind OOF member, Baza, has got one and is sending it to me.  I am so grateful for that, as I just do not know what will happen if we find it impossible to get this small, but vital, gasket/seal!  That will happen unless we can somehow fabricate one, but I have no idea of how I could do that!
