Charger for Mrs Opti's planet-saving milk float
« on: 20 February 2025, 12:33:27 »

It took a fair bit of arranging.

The main cables around the electricity meter were 16mm and needed to be changed to 25mm. A new smart meter fixed this.

Following this the man from Octopussy refused to fix the charger because the earth connected to the ground spike was 'not to specification'

Another appointment made but the charger man then said the hot water pipe was not 'bonded correctly'......I still have no idea what this means. :D

Job done now though. :y

There were about 3 or 4 locations the charger could have been situated.....this is probably the best.

Oh....and even though it is now fitted a man from the national grid is coming to change the main cut out fuse as it is outdated.

Apparently not dangerous, and free of charge, so I may as well have this update.

Are you offering?

£1.50 P/H so long as you supply the masonry paint. :)

I can do it for you :y

I saw a video that Mr Bean made.  You will need 2 5 litre tins of paint, box of matches, and 2 supersonic air bombs.

£20 for fuel should suffice. :y

The 'HMRC-approved' mileage rate for tax purposes is 45p per mile. I'll think about it at that rate and plus I'll do it for minimum wage hourly rate.   :y

I'm booked up until the end of March though and my travelling costs will be from my previous location.  Seems more than fair?  :)

……..

It means that the copper pipework is not ‘earthed’ correctly somewhere in the system. It’s fairly common, especially when a section of copper pipe has been replaced with poly pipe, and the fitter hasn’t bridged the two copper sections with earth tag strap.  :y

The 'HMRC-approved' mileage rate for tax purposes is 45p per mile.
My tight-arse company gives me 28ppm.  I am able to claim a tax rebate at 20%/40% as appropriate on the remaining 17p, how generous.

So, for those that cant count, if I was a 20% taxpayer, that would be 31.4p a mile, or 34.8p a mile if I am a 40% taxpayer....

Needless to say, my car costs more than that to run.

I know very little about the milk float variety of transport. What I do know I don't like them very much as electric cars are more 'kitchen appliance white goods' than actual motor cars.

Perhaps somebody can give me an idea of a good electric car.... :y

I'm now expecting pictures of a light blue cripple carriage from the seventies. ;D

Thanks, Mr YZ.

If I'd been blessed with a larger brain I would have known this. :-X ;)
