So we've touched on this in other threads, but I decided it deserved a thread all to itself!  :)

Apparently/allegedly the company that has been selected to run Labour's digital ID app is called Multiverse, whose CEO is a fella called Euan Blair, whose Dad happens to be the war criminal former PM Tony Blair, whose think tank the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change has been advising governments all round the world on Digital ID systems.  :-X

Follow the money as they say....  ::)

Sadly it is inevitable. Everyone in the world ( when it is controlled by Emperor Xi) will have implanted chip to ID them. Naturally countries championing freedom, free speech and so on will kick against it. Yet you have ANPR, cars that can report  where and  how you were driving, phones and social media. In fact people are happy to be bombarded with offers based on their surfing.

So what is the actual issue with having ID? Everyone in Spain has an ID card. In twenty years I have been asked for it once ( when Igot stopped at a routine roadside stop). It is however very useful in transactions eg ordering goods as it gives the vendor solid info as to who you are.

If it was linked to social security/ health number, national insurance and bank accounts it would help weed out fraud perhaps.

An ID card I'd have no issue with. I have a driving licence and a passport, after all.

..but this is a government-mandated "app" on your phone which you require to exercise the privilege of having a job. With this country's track record on delivering IT projects and securing data. :-X

I heard this is for adults, but what about teenagers, underage drinking etc.

I had my 1st drink in a pub at the age of 14, the 2 lads I went with , both older and with tattoos were asked to leave but I was told I was OK to stay.  so maybe ID may have been useful for my friends.

I understand the need for it but like everything it's only any good if applied properly.

Then there's all the fake ID like driving license, passports, will this become the same.?

This is from the .gov site. The bit about digital ID deterring illegal immigrants from making dangerous journeys is a joke surely. They can’t really believe that will stop them can they. This digital ID idea appears to be further along than we’d like it to be, and I have zero confidence of our data being secure.  ::)

All very well if you need it to work / gain employment, but neither my wife or myself have no intention of working again so presumably we won't need one.

You will probably need it for a hospital visit, or when dealing with any government department.

Truth be known Starmer and his Fabian society mates are all big fans of the Chinese social credit system.

Speak against the 'system' and you may find you are not allowed to travel, or your bank account has been frozen. :-X :-\

Expect even more knocks at the door from plod because they may need to check and correct your thinking.

This goes way beyond showing ID, they’ll link it to your National Insurance number, your NHS number, your pension, your banking and whatever else they see fit to do.
On the .gov site link, the ID will contain your name, date of birth, nationality, your photo, and they are in discussions regarding adding your address on as well. But don’t worry, it will all be secure, said nobody.  ;D
