It seems likely that Oracle will be involved (as well as Blairs son ? ) in the scheme as the owner is a very good friend of Blairs.
He gave Blairs foundation a huge amount of money - £275 million if my memory serves.

Oracle who's Oracle Cloud hasn't just been hacked a few weeks ago.  Oh sorry, that was Oracle's other cloud, so that doesn't count ;D

The Swiss have just very narrowly voted for Digital ID Cards, 50.4% for and 49.6% against.  ::)

Apparently the American tech company Palantir who are heavily involved in digital ID card systems worldwide, including the UK's proposed scheme, sponsored the Yes campaign.  :-X

Yes, sounds like something an old person would say, like you, would do.

I don't find the card per-se to be the issue - as others have said we have driving licenses, passports, NI numbers etc. For me the issues are...

1) Are we required to carry it at all times? Or is it like a driving license - you've got 3 days to get down the cop-shop with it?
2) Who can 'demand' to see it?
3) If I get attacked by a great white lesser spotted Somerset squirrel and am bleeding to death, are they going to demand to see the card before treating me?

Anyone who thinks this is going to stop illegal immigrants getting jobs or claiming benefits is an idiot, who will probably be voting Reform at the next election anyway so there is zero political capital for Labour in introducing it. Barking, the lot of them.

Although I would go so far as to say Chuck the wasters out and replace the house of commons with the OOF. We can surely do a far better job.  How could we possibly do worse….,

Left hand, right hand springs to mind.  ::)

From the government guidelines:

Under the government's plans digital ID will be required in order to work in the UK, but the government says people who aren't looking to work (for example, pensioners) won't have to have one.

From Lisa Nandy :

While announcing the government’s plans to roll out digital IDs, the culture secretary Lisa Nandy said “ALL UK citizens will have a digital ID” and that “ALL UK citizens will have to have it”.

From the .gov website :

1. No requirement to carry it with you.  :y
2. Certainly NOT the Police according to the .gov site, but no doubt they’ll abuse that like their obsessive ego for normal ID. (That last bit was me, not the .gov site)  ::)
3. Funnily enough they don’t mention that one, regardless of how you came about the injuries.  :)
………….
so there is zero political capital for Labour in introducing it.

But there may well be massive financial gain for Labours puppet masters who are orchestrating the development of this.  :-\
