Openreach
« on: Yesterday at 18:50:40 »

Openreach were due this morning to connect me to full fibre.

Over the last few days I've had e-mails + text messages from them asking me to confirm the appointment, which I have every time.

Appointment was between 08:00 to 13:00.

Didn't arrive, reported it and was told engineer was running late and would be there in the afternoon.

At 15:24 on my security camera, an Openreach van came into the Close, reversed and drove off.

Reported it again and was told he knocked on the door to tell us more work needed to be done.

He didn't even get out of the van, let alone stop.

New appointment now made for the 20th.

It's about par for the course, Barry.
I rang BT to tell them that caller ID hadn't been working since I changed to digital voice. It's fair to say that the call handler didn't have a clue what to do, so she raised a job number and said if it wasn't sorted by such a date to ring back. Typical delaying tactic. It wasn't sorted so I went online and found out how to do it myself. Now sorted..... by me, not BT.

We changed phone and Broadband from SKY to BT a couple of months ago. Internet drops out almost every day now and we have to reset the router to get it back.
A shower of shite as far as Im concerned.
But then most companies are the same nowadays.  :(

Sadly, not unusual, although as Migv6 says, not entirely unique to Openreach (BT/EE, a separate company, never send anyone to residential properties, like all service providers exclusively using Openreach for the connection, they send an Openreach technician (who might then subbie it).

Albs - if you came from Sky via Openreach to BT (or more likely EE), it should all be the same same cabling/fibres, assuming you didn't go from ADSL/FTTC to FTTP.  So hard to see how it could be a change of provider.  It could be, if FTTC (can't be ADSL, as I'm fairly sure there is a stop sell on that now), a re-learning which takes up to 10 days, but any outages caused by that should reconnect within a minute or so.  If its only on WiFi where you see the problem, it could be the (not so smart) Smarthub making a mess of channel selection.  Best to try a wired device and compare, if possible, to prove it to WiFi or not.

Openreach own the network.

It's almost impossible to put a complaint into Openreach, you have to go through your broadband supplier, and in this case, it's not their fault.

Not their fault but, as Openreach is their effectively their sub contractor, they are responsible for the performance  :y

Indeed, your contract is with BT/EE or whatever they call themselves this week.  You have no say or relationship with and 3rd party they use to provide the service you bought.

Generally, I think missed installs do carry some compo, only peanuts mind, so kepp on 'em ;D

BT Group own Openreach, not the parts of BT that you or I deal with, which are also owned by BT Group.
