Normally two giant banks like these would not be allowed to merge because it would restrict competition.
But I think a blind eye will be turned in this instance. :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/

Thankfully I changed my mortgage a few months ago now fixed for 5 years, but I notice my credit card companies keep reducing my limit, most recently being today BOS reduced my card by £300, so rather than pay off before going abroad I may just continue to pay the minimun and keep the money in the bank ::) :y :-/

My savings and income are with Halifax and my bills are paid via Llyods TSb in my cheque account and kept with a bare minimum balance and to my annoyance their manipulated bank charges.

If the TSB takes over the Halifax methinks I will drop them both.

Down side is, where do you move to. :-/

Today I searched in the net for some info as I have my lessons from before..

Briefly the banks who is mostly in liquid position or have many papers from different sectors will be effected slightly..

But some who have large paper investments to related sectors (mortgage) will be inevitably effected..

However Lechman Brothers who have given positive credit rating for Turkey and who said "everything goes fine" is now bankrupt :P

Allready been mentioned mortgage rates to rise and savings rates to fall.

My mortgage is history as it's settled but I cant keep track with savings rates.  Best I have seen recently is Yorkshire Building Society.@ 5.7% where the Halifax has allready droped to 4.25% (Both Gross%)

Not likely. Banks will be desperate for YOUR cash. They will be tripping over each other to get your cash on deposit. I fully expect to see interest rates on deposit to rise.  :)
