Passed my test 1974 in my old man's Mazda RX2 . Anyone remember them? Went like stink , guzzled petrol , let go on corners even in the dry on rock hard Bridgstone tyres. First car of my own was a mini 850 , little bit slower ! BTW going back to original thread doesn't 12 grand reserve seem a bit steep , not sure you couldn't get an original one or even maybe a lotus cortina for that money in the present economic climate ?
my old man had one of those, chewed rotor tips like no ones business
My first car was a mini, loved it, and i have about another 10 after that........at the time XR3's were still new, RS turbo Escorts were revered as hot hatches as was the ubiquitous Golf GTI Mk1
Astra GTE were a bit to 'jelly mould for me, Cav SRi's were the most stolen cars in their time, Monza GS\E's were a better, more subtle alternative to the Capri ( i had a 3.0s and 2.8 injection) we used t called them 'speedboats' due to their nose up attitude
and Porsche 924 were still considered 'respectable' especially the turbo version with 170 bhp

and the 911 was...and still is my dream car, the Lamborghini Countach adorned my bedroom wall as did the tennis girl who was scratching her arse
