There is a gigabyte board for the nvidia as well, either that or look at the XFX as its been an excellent board for me and runs nvidia nicely
I understand that, but it wont be the price I am pating for this one.

No probs, I had a gigabyte board before the XFX and it is still running in my sisters PC albeit on 8x AGP
So either would be a good choice, also ATI cards seem to be catching up with Nvidia again, although there have been some driver issues.
get your drivers from http://www.techpowerup.com/softmod/ and you should be fine
I was considering an upgrade abbout 6 weeks ago, bought the 8800GTX 768MB which is what set it all off and am runnning a Gigabyte GA-8n-SLI with a 3.0 Gig CPU etc.
Fancied a duel core but asked on the forum and then started considering the Quad core.
Then chatting a way last week to a mate he said he had just bought a quad core extreme and board, so out of curiosity I just mentioned his old stuff as listed earlier, or the same board and CPU with 3GB of DDR3 as the board takes both. Made an offer and he accepted based on the DDR3
Things have changed slightly since we 1st spoke, I am now getting 4GB DDR2 plus a load of bitz and pieces so for the speed of CPU it's still a good balance. So just looking for an ATI as mentioned.
Also since I was offered it I have just started building a machine I bought parts for quite a while back,
Is going to be a test bed as it takes DDR and DDR2, plus also has AGP and PCI-e slots for the graphics. Thats got a 3.4 single core and 4GB of ram to go in it.
So one way or annother my older AMD server is about to get an upgrade to a 64bit jobbie.
It kept me out of mischeif over the weekend.
