Most chefs nowadays are men I'd say.  I used to work in kitchens and it's pretty crappy, knackering work with terrible hours.  There was the odd female chef but tended to do pastry only.

I don't think it's something which relates to gender whether you are better at cooking or not but I would say when it comes to working in hotel/restaurant kitchens it's definitely a mans workplace probably why you see more on tv etc.

As I understand it that is because woman tend to have warmer hands which is ideal for pastry making. ;)

Nice to know .........on those cold winter nights lizzie. :y :y :y :y

I would be most offended if any man took over the cooking in my kitchen...................I would go and sulk with a glass of wine, a good magazine, soft music and my feet up! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;)

...........and the reason why men tend to be good at cooking is that they do not have young children running around their feet all day as you are trying to cook, iron, do the housework, go to the shops, etc, etc.! ;) ;)   Woman have to cook under severe domestic pressure. ::) ::)

The difference is I like cooking..But if I had to do it everyday, of course wont be same..

I do more cooking than my wife. The main reason is I get home at 4.15pm and she gets home at 5.45pm. Makes sense to get dinner ready for when she gets home. We are both quite decent cooks and both enjoy cooking. (Still think men are better Chefs though!)
