Telephone interview this afternoon,
« on: 06 November 2008, 10:47:17 »

Remember we were talking about CV's yesterday, and I mentioned I had added the various phrases to my CV. Well, I just got a call, they want to interview me over the phone this afternoon. :y

Help, what do I say !. This will be the first phone interview I have had. Just checked the mobile battery was nearly flat, and I couldn't find the charger, :'( :'( :'( :'(

fortunately the wife's has the same type of phone so borrowed her's.

THis is bad, panic setting in and I still have 3 hrs to go !.  :o

Ok basic prep.

Re-read the job advert and do as said for the CV...pick out the key behaviours and required competences.

Then make a few notes relating to these which you can talk about over the phone based on previous examples of them.

i.e. Putting the customer first.

Respond with an example such as.

During a major customer fault I was assigned to manage and coordinate etc etc etc......

This should allow you to cover some of the questions and more importantly improves confidence thanks to having some prep in place.  :y

Thanks Mark, will get started. Its all about video recording stuff, so I had better lookup MPEG etc.

Assuming Mpeg is part of the job requirements......remember also that MPEG is a standards body encompassing many many standards!

You may well find its only the HR department/agency at this stage and hence will be more linked to the advert

Just remember that you are in the driving seat.

I assume its a job you can do.

I suspect there are some things relating to the job you have experience of in the past.

Therefore you CAN do the job, its simply a case of answering the questions accurately and concisely based on real examples of your abilities.

You will be fine  :y

Hi - best bit of interview advice I ever got was not to answer a question - you have to RESPOND to a question - but dont waffle lol,

Good luck - it wont be as bad as you think it's going to be - in fact it's better than having to get dressed up and go to them!

Also ensure that your in a quiet room and you have a good signal if your on the mobile.

So you don't think having the band Thunder blasting away in the background is a good idea  8-)

I'm busy writing lots of notes, trying to find out about the company products etc, and the desk is getting covered in sheets of paper !

Just remember u are good enuf to do the job (after all as has been pointed up they are interested enuf to phone interview u) and be confident.  If u hit a difficulty (sorry "challenge".., correct jobspeak), don't panic, just take a couple of deep breaths (not too audibly lol) while u think of the best way to answer.
