As a few of you will know, my wife is a headteacher in a primary school in Barnsley. She's been there four years now and there have been some difficult times. The school is rated as being in the top 2% of shools in deprived areas, and there are a lot of social issues as well as the usual teaching and learning.
The ofsted team are in today and tomorrow for their inspection and, all things being equal, it looks as though the school will get a "Good with outstanding features".
It's hard for people outside of education to understand exactly how much this means to my wife and, indeed, to the whole family. There are still a lot of people who think it's "nine to three thirty and thirteen weeks a year off". She has worked non-stop for the past four years to get this result, including late nights and weekends, and I am so chuffed I just had to tell you all.
