As a kid all that mattered to me was my radio, later radio cassette, my bike & my toy cars. I've still got a collection of 60's/70s' die cast  ie corgi dinky matchbox but they're all OLD, built to be played with, some of you have seen them. I moaned my parents to death in the early 70's for a Raleigh Chopper & eventually got a blue one (wanted orange but made up anyway) Until i rode it & all of us with Choppers could'nt keep with our mates or go off road cos they were s**t to ride really.
Still cool sitting on the bike with the stand down & showing your mates the gears!!!!!!!!! :D 8-)

It was a Raleigh Chopper that cost me my two front teeth at 11 years old....  The gap in them friggin' handlebars were just built for a cherub such as me to fly through.....     >:(

My brother had one of those. I did get, one birthday, a toy SLR that had a magazine that could be removed and filled with plastic bullets that would fire... :D :D :D

I've got mine in the loft still.... with the trailer! Every now and again I'll get it down setting it going and annoy my dad by dumping an apple at his feet!
Used to have a Raleigh Strika because I wasnt big enough to have a grifter, I was gutted! But then I got my brothers chopper (oo-er), wish we had never sold that now!
Still got a Spectrum and a Spectrum+ in the loft that I get down when I'm really bored and not to fussed about waiting 15 mins for a game to load... then crash  >:(

Just had a looksie on fleabay, probably worth more now than they cost.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RALEIGH-CHOPPER-MARK-111-IN-RED_W0QQitemZ280284369940QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Bikes_GL?hash=item280284369940&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1301|66%3A4|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318

Great thread this one... I feel 10 again :y

There's a chap in Stoke that I know who deals in Raleigh Choppers, the propper old ones, he's had all the decals reprinted, he gets all the original mudguards and wheels re-chromed, he's even got the colour matches to the original paints.
Does anyone rember the special edition ones????   Black with silver glittery writing on them!!

Anyway, Chris, the man in Stoke, sells them for around £600 each in tip top original condition...  Special editions are more :D

The punters who buy these are often 1970's theme pub owners and the like..  they stick 'em on the wall.

DC

p.s.

What about Action Men then....  Wish I still had mine..

My mum once decided to write to Palitoy to ask why there wasn't a black action man, we're not coloured for those who don't know me, but, equality and all.  So, Palitoy wrote back thanking mum for the suggestion and they included a free white Action Man for me, then, within 12 months there was a coloured trooper on the market and ready to fight :)

It was called the Raleigh Chopper Sprint, one of my friends at school had one, his dad owned a bike shop.
