Expensive Escort.
« on: 26 November 2008, 20:03:49 »

I sat in one of these once & started it up, did'nt even ask to drive it. It was a mates Dads car years ago. Back then only a few were registered, ie Mini Cooper heritage certificate but look at the bids. I know my old Fords pretty well but would have to look/investigate carefully. If it's genuine it'd be hard to price, guess it's worth what some one will pay. :o

Very nice, but it is not worth 15K. I would say 5-8K for a minter.

Just my useless opinion.

Mike

P.S. You could buy a fairly good E type Jag for that kind of money, and the jag would pull more looks

As they say, it's only worth what someone is prepared to pay.

It's just about as rare as you can get. There are only about 10 genuine ones left in the UK. But even so, £15k with still 9 days to go seems a bit fishy. If it's the real deal it ought to go into a specialist historic or classic car auction, not dodgy old eBay

Exactly why i was unsure, but do the bidders know something we don't? It's obviously a pukka type 49 body shell but could've started life as a 1300GT, 1600 Mexico or a better RS model. Seller admits it's a resto but gives no history or provenance which to me is suspect.
Suffice to say i won't be bidding but will watch with interest. ::)

Makes me wonder if bidders 3 and 4 are his mates.  Showing thier hands too early for genuine bidders as far as I see it.
