When I was a lad
« on: 13 December 2008, 09:58:23 »

I had one of these.  I had so much fun having shoot outs on the street with all the the lads.

Didnt do me any harm, we were just allways told to aim low and have fun.

Funny really.  30/35 years ago there were no problems with guns or knives.

My Mum and Dad never allowed me to have an air riffle untill I was 18 (and when I got to 18 I wasnt bothered untill I got to 22  years of age to buy my 1st one)  But they let me have the cap guns, they bought be a Daniel Boone toy replica that fired big plastic bullets when I was 11 and even let me have a Gat pistol when I was 14 as long as it was allways used at the top the garden with no one about.

I was responsible and am glad to say my parents trusted me. Had I have let them down privilages soon got removed.

Yeah I had one of those --- plain silver I think !!!  On the subject of being responsible -- you have to give a kid SOME rope to see how he or she handles it and gets used to it --- kids these days don't get any exposure for most of their little lives and then it's all dropped on them in one great heap -- then they go overboard !!!!!!

I had guns & knives from an early age & with my dad being a farmer he had a few 12 gauges including a pump action, a 2.2 bullet (i don't recall what make) & some 4/10s. With me growing up with them i learnt to respect them & what they're capable of. My brother had an air rifle from being around 12 & then i ended up with it. When i was 18 i had my first certificate & bought a side by side ejector & spent many hours rough game shooting. I loved it, some of the best days i've spent :) :) :) :)

i had a spud gun, great fun until we found air pistols, proper wars with them over the old waste site. many a time i got shot in the head or face. jumping off bridges into trees and climbing up drainpipes to blocks of flats. didnt see the danger when we was young. rather stupid now when you think of it.
