Hence no complaints from me, but as said before, I do pay extra for the Premier service, and in all honesty they would love me to leave.  But I aint.  :-X :-X :-X
I know a few premier PN customers, I'm not a fan of the service.  To get the best, unmolested service from PN, go for the PAYG (but obviously if you are a big hitter, will get crippled financially)

I downloaded 1.05TB in my last period ending yesterday, so they would make a fortune from me.
You may be getting close to being kicked off there - slowly they are getting rid of their unsustainable customers, so unless its necessary, consider cutting it back.

Not that I can think of many reasons why a consumer should need to transfer that amount.

They addmitted they cant cant kick me off because of the original contract, and have also admiited that I can have what I want when I want it as long as its off peak they wont bother me.

Its all legal, I dont pirate.

I will come clean.  As per other thread I fancy a MCE unit.  The original idea was to put a boot drive and DVD/RW in it and then add hard drives.  I bought 1TB drive, and filled it from my old server with Video clips collected off the net over the years.  Then  bought annother 1TBand started downloading stuff I allready had on Video atape.  Top Gear and a few other bits.  I have no interest in films at all.

I then added annother 1TB and collected the uncut American versions of WWE, WWF, Raw, Smackdown etc, and realised that the UK only shows about 20% of what is produced.

Next week I will add 1TB and carry on collecting the wrestling.

Had I have got the recording equipment and coverage to put it on DVD as shown on TV then I would have done  But for the space of one computer wit a boot drive and 6 TB over a period of time I thought I would go that direction.  Also leaving 1or 2 TB for the TV cards.

As far as I am aware was/is broadcast over TV channels and therefore recordable to keep.

On that basis I believe I have done nothing illegal.

Also I have downloadeds 1000's of wallpaper back grounds for my Digitl picture frame.  Favourites being the nature and landscape stuff, in particular the woodland and water/falls/rivers/lakes etc.  Loads of cars, trains, planes and various other transport.

The stuff I am after will be enough to fill annother drive or 2, so as I am moving in March and wont have Sky then at least I will have plenty to watch and wont be stuck for choices.

If for any reason what I am doing is illegal, then simply it will be deleted.

I think PN have already proved they can terminate any contract, seem to recall a court case during the original AUP/FUP debacle they went through. I've heard of a recent clampdown.  The other tool they have in their arsenal is to shape you so badly you will leave voluntarily ;D

As to the legalities of downloading series, that is not legal. Many of these belong to production companies, not the broadcaster (esp the yankee ones), and the broadcaster has rights to transmit at an agreed time.  No different from downloading a film that has been shown on television at some point - still illegal.

All that said, 1Tb a month is more than anyone could watch!

Well I dont intend watching it all at once.  I wont be going for a sky install till I know what the move costs me.

As for termination of ISP.  If they warn me of over use I will chill it, untill then I aint really bothered.

So are you saying we cant record a series by any media, be it video, DVD or download it.  Lets face it, if thats the case whats the point of any of it.

I dont mind downloading it, watch it and then delete it.

As I say, I abide by the law (most of the time  :-X(like we all do))  but would appreciate more information from web links etc as to the law on video for private use.

I think originally, you were supposed to watch the vhs tape within 30days or something, though don't think thats valid any more.

As for downloading, thats a big fat no.  Only reason why BBC/ITV can do iplayer/watch again is purely because of the DRM that the producers insist is enforced!

That's about as good as it gets round here - my neighbour only gets about 2000kbps at best - we're a very long way from the exchange.

I'm satisfied with the speed, but every now and then it goes away, and I get stuck on 135kbps for days on end.  What seems to happen is that due to some line interruption, BT have detected an unstable connection and have throttled back the throughput limit (IP profile) to something very silly.

Demon's helpdesk in Mumbai are the most unco-operative bunch of losers I have ever encountered, and just will not do anything about it.  They say they can't fix it (which I'm not sure I believe), and that they can't report it to BT unless I send them three sets of results from BT's speed test site spread over a period of 9 hours.  This is complete nonsense, as they are perfectly capable of running the speed test themselves, because they can see the IP profile and the exchange connect speed.

I'd dump them, but I'm honestly not sure if anyone else is any better.  And I made the mistake, 12 years ago, of using an xxx.demon.co.uk e-mail address for business purposes, and I can't get that sub-domain re-hosted elsewhere, as far as I know.  Too many people have the old address, and I can't notify them all that I'm changing, as I'm not in regular contact with them.  I suppose I could get another broadband service and just retain a Demon dial-up facility, but who do I switch to?

I was a happy Demon user for years but it all went to pot around the time ADSL came to town. (2001 ish for me, IIRC?) They made such a farce out of the process of swapping me to ADSL that I ditched them instead.

I've been with Zen ever since and am very happy. I also bought a domain at the same time as the pitfalls of relying on an ISP email address became apparent.

So now is the perfect time to get a domain name, and start using it, slowly moving away from the ISP one :y

tested 8.47pm tonight.
You now want to compare that with an off peak one, to see if there is much of an improvement
