Calander Situation
« on: 29 December 2008, 22:50:18 »

I will buy one of these calanders as they are to do with the forum, but like Ljay mentioned in the gallery thread, I too thought the pictures would be up for a debate sort of thing.
There are alot of lovely Omega's on this forum I personally have seen a number of them that dont seem to have made it.
Why is this?
I understand you maybe wanting to get it done before Jan but I personally think it would be better to get it right with everyones vote than to run ahead willy nilly..

To be honest before the Tax Disc Holders were done, quite a few samples were posted on the Forum to get what the majority decided..
Just assumed something similar would happen with the calander.

Methinks that if the 12 photo's for the calendar, and one for the cover, were subject to democratic decisions by the whole forum membership... it might actually get "published" some 30 years after the last Miggy is scrapped.

The idea was floated, and a lot of work done, now we have a "proof" calendar a bit like one you see in the shops .. you know, cover picture with small pictures of all the pictures on the back.. if you don't like the pictures you see you don't buy.

Especially for 2009 it needs to be actioned PDQ IMHO, it might be possible to have "democratic" one for 2010 if the work start in April ???

Lots of people showed interest to buy them, seems to me that if people dont get any input as to whats in it then someone will be left with a job lot of calenders!
Notice yours made the grade (incidently none of ours were submitted, so no bias shown)

As far as I can see the Calander post in the gallery date is 22nd December, it is only the 29th today.....
Alot of people myself included ain't been on a great deal lately as it is Christmas.
Personally I think it is unfair....

I will be buying one anyway (where else sells Omega calenders?!?!?) but in my opinion some of the pics and cars are a little bit non descript.

I would have expected for all the gorgeous cars we have and all of the great pics I have seen of some of them on this site that the end result would have been a bit more exciting to look at.

Just my 2p.

This just shows the problem of any democratic idea .... :(  Both highly valid comments .. of diametrically opposed views ....

I have no problems with any of the pics but notice that they are all 'posh migs' should there not be a range, which would include some of the basic models :-X

To be fair to those organising/supporting/selecting, its been done a bit on the 'hurry up' as it was very much a late entrant into the 'what calender will we get Aunt Nelly this year' scenario.  To me, if we went down the vote/poll route we would be lucky if it was available for 2010...

**idea** - start a thread now with potential pics for 2010, taken with good quality, high resolution/proper camera images, instead of happy snaps from your mobby of your P&J that would stand intense scrutiny in a photographic publishing place, so as to prevent moans and groans about poor quality rubbish pics.....

The Tax Disc Holders didn't take that long... and they are right, they look good, they were also put on the forum so Forum members could vote which was to their taste. The winner won.
That seems fair to me...
What is the point of doing a "Hurry Up Calander?"
Surely as a group people would want it to look good..
