K Series is one of the easiest cambelts to change! hardest part is sometimes the waterpump gets ceased in place but will come out eventually

The Honda Engine went upto P Reg 216's as a friend has a Manual 216 and hers has the honda lump (D Series)

Parts are nice and cheap! i got all of Mrs TMX always from Unipart as i found them the cheapest!

check/relace the PAS & Aircon & Alternator belts aswell these wear out easily

I used to use the VX 10W40 Semi Syn in Mrs TMX's i sold hers back in october sold it for £450 with 130k on the clock still ran sweat!

I had a Honda engined 216 (non cat) in early 90s.  Good engine if you revved the gonads off it.  Pretty uneconomical, I used to average 25mpg, best I ever got was 37mpg on a run to North Wales once. Reliable engine with the exception of the ignitor unit, guaranteed to fail as often as a GM V6 crank sensor!

K series 1.6 in the 25, obviously with a cat.  I reckon the Honda had slightly more performance, though the K you don't have to rag so had (though still need to rev it to get the best from it).  And, oh boy, is the economy of the K better!

HG issues aside, I'd rather have a K based on all the factors that are part of the cause of the HG failures  ::)

as a note, the worst consumption in city and in -5 Celcius , clit averaged 36 mpg. (with racer boy driving style)

best was above 44-45 mpg in city..(summer)

Agree, I had a white vectra, and I thought it was going to be a pain. Tbh, it was easier in someways than the omega, as you could give it a quick once over, and it would look fine... however do that with the omega, and its covered in water marks, and looks crap!  :-[

Marie - I bet the CD Changer (if fitted) doesn't play CD reliably any more ;D

Saying that, it probably hasn't got one, from the interior shots, it looks like it may be one of the 'value' type models :( - but as a freebie :)
