Failed MOT today...
« on: 09 February 2009, 16:21:53 »

...on a rear spring. Not really a surprise because I knew it was busted ::) ::) ::)

On the plus side it was the only thing though :y :y :y

Emissions tested on LPG and CO: 0.00, HC: 238 :y :y :y

Couple of bits underneath that need waxoil but all OK.

Oh... And I must adjust the handbrake cable... Efficiency is all ok but travel is more than I'd like :y :y

Yep... Just ordered a pair of springs and I'll fit the 2nd hand shocks I've got at the same time to get rid of the annoying air leak ::) ::)

Like I said... I knew about it anyway so wasn't a great surprise ::) ::)

Gone with standard saloon springs to go with S/L shocks as a few people have done with no ill effects :y :y

If you presented it on LPG it should not have had an emissions test AFAIK ...  thast what I was told 2 weeks ago when mine was MOT'd ...

Afraid you were told wrong... It does have an emissions test but not a cat test... Basically just has to be within the basic test limits of CO<3.50 and HC<1200 :y :y :y

It's a common mistake for garages to get it wrong if they don't do MOT's on LPG cars

I'll take your word for it .. but this guy does a lot of LPG cars ...  He asked me what fuel I was running .. when I said LPG he never did any sort of emissions test at all .. still gave me a pass certificate  :)

I watched the whole test.. some of it from quite close up  !!!  The tester called me forward to show me a couple of things that he thought I "might like to do when I get the chance" .. :)

Was nice and friendly .. but thorough, as far as I could see ..

Re-test will be no problem... Just got to find a couple of dry hours to change them ::) ::)

LPG emissions are a bit of a grey area for MOT's at the moment. Any multipoint system should pass with flying colours which is probably why he didn't bother :y :y

I had a good nose about underneath the car whilst it was on the ramp and we spotted a couple of areas which need a bit of waxoil but TBH the tester said he was pleasantly surprised how good the car was, with the exception of the springs ::) ::)
