stupid car insurance
« on: 18 February 2009, 21:18:13 »

just setting up ann's car insurance
tried loads of places with ann as the main and me as second driver quotes of £1200 tpft

tried again as me as the main and ann as second driver
quotes of £1200 tpft

tried it just me on ann's car
quotes of £300 tpft and £450 fully comp

ann started to get upset as we would struggle to pay the £1200 a year

so i tried just ann on her own on the insurance
stupid insurance company's
ive been driving nearly 10 years and she gets a quote on her on
£450 tpft

There are several sites that specialise in insuring women drivers on their own cars when there is another car in the household .. the surmise is that the womans car is little more than a school taxi/shopping cart, major trips are done in the the "other" car .. this leads to lower risk and lower premiums ..

Perhaps you've hit on one of those ??

Not sure....

But IF she is driving it on L plates, with you in the car..

it is YOU deemed to be in charge of the car - liable for points etc, so I think you MUST be insured on it too.

Could be talking crap though, but sure I have heard something along these lines.

Ummm yep... ;D

Well kind of...the driver gets points not the passenger.

However as your qualified i believe your supposedly in charge....unless you fall asleep and let ya mrs just get on with it. ;D :y

Maybe the high premium is partly down too the car....also how old is she...that would play a big part.

Beware of online quotes from confused.com & the like. One well known company gave a quote of £167 tpft on the BMW 328i, when i phoned for cover i was quoted £600+ & fobbed off with some silly excuse. Needless to say i gave them nothing.
