According to the BBC a UK car plant / firm is on the verge of a major financial collapse with 6,000 jobs being lost.

Miss reported again....Saab has filed for protection (the equivalent of chapt 11), which is different to placing them into the hands of the administrators!

Don't think so........please read report:

"
Saab aims to survive without GM
Saab Turbo X
Saab has not made a profit since 2001

Carmaker Saab, which is owned by General Motors, has had its application to enter a reorganisation process approved by a Swedish court.

An administrator has been appointed to handle the process. Saab is seeking to create a fully independent business."

Miss reporting??????? ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

Must be Jaguar Land Rover I think......remember Tata asking for help about 3 months ago and not getting it......so i guess sadly things have obviously continued to deteriate.......

Major local VX and Saab dealer in Medway has closed,or as it was reported in local paper as "not had ist franchise renewed by Vauxhall.
When I went ther other day all cars had gone and place was stripped,so wonder how many other dealers are feeling the squeeze.

Who the hell do the BBC think they are, reporting such a story without naming the company involved.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7901092.stm

With the usual penchant for blowing the numbers up out of proportion that the BBC lives by, it is much more likely to be TVR or Morgan than one of the big ones. You can add another zero to the "directly and indirectly employs" number of 6,000 if that was so.

Tw*t journalism strikes again.

Thats a bit strange this one, I go past Greens in Rainham and they have no cars in forecourt or showroom, but seem to have people working in there and cars in back of carpark by workshop area :-? :-? Must go in there on premise of needing to buy some bits and find out what the score is. The SAAB dealership in snodland has'nt had a car in there for months and that showroom is only 2-3 years old ,which is not that good

Went into Greens in Snodland and all cars had gone and barrier was across entrance.
Last saturday went to Greens in Rainham and again all forecourt cars gone, but looked like parts dept wa still in use,but at 11.30 all was closed and times on door had been scratched out.
This week went to Pomphreys in Sittingbourne and parts guy told me that Snodland branch had gone as was in masssive dept and had water and electric cut off as had not paid bill..unsure as to position with the Rainham branch but they had been approached by several guys for work,as they hadn,t been paid for January....looks like Medway is without a VX dealer then .
