Bad luck mate - momentary lapse of concentration etc etc - at least you got to reason with a real copper and not the man in a van camera that caught me a few days ago - no discussion just the NIP  through the door

Same age as me optomist,I think my lack of youth had an influence on the copper tbh,he asked me a few questions about how long I had been riding etc,how far from home my workplace was,and then said "this country is shit enough to live in these days without having your livliehood taken away,so on this occasion I will go with the lowest recorded speed so you dont go to court and get an automatic ban."
He was pretty ugly but I was tempted to give him a kiss.
I reckon Loo knee is going to have a right laugh when he reads this thread.

I believe there isnt an automatic ban...its down too the judges too make a decision,dont forget if loosing your license causes serve hardship they can go down different routes.

Drink driving maybe well be different but the old ""100mph instant ban"" simply isnt true.

Automatic ban probably isnt the correct phrase,but he informed me in no uncertain terms that he had evidence to take me to court for doing 125mph,and as such the chances of keeping my licence would be very remote to say the least,you would probably need a hell of a good excuse and a very good solicitor I would imagine,but he was human and fair,and an experienced bloke by the sound of him,much better at policing the roads than any number of cameras.

Yeah id say if your a more mature rider he probbaly realised you know your stuff unlike some of the ""hope and pray"" younger riders.

One of my brothers had to go to court for similar.  Fortunately a well known F1 Team Principle sent in a nice letter as a character reference, and he 'got off'  (as in he got a massive fine and a shitload of points, but kept licence)

Nothing wrong with that   .........so long as you were riding within your limits....and it seems as though you were.
Too much time spent chasing speeders in my opinion.............I had a friend who had his house broken into recently............the police did not want to come out at first..............as it was not considered a priority. :-/ :-/

quite agree,but if you break the rules and get caught,you got to take it on the chin,and considering the copper told me he and his volvo turbo had struggled to catch me (it took 4.2 miles apparently) I think me and my chin got off lightly.
He did say they are having a purge on speeding on the m11 at the moment,so if anyone is an m11 user,be careful.

The only laugh I am having here Albs is I cant believe that Honda 90 you have does between 90-125
Been out for a little 80 mile ride myself and enjoyed every second so no piss taking from me there mate

just shows some coppers are human, i have dealt with a few decent one in my time and i doth my cap to them for staying decent with the crap they put up with

Always worth being respectfull. Met a couple along the lines that Albitz had.  The attitude of those involved can mean the difference between 18month ban and points and a fine.

Wpc's however seem completely devoid of any discretion what so ever in my experience. Strange.

It doesn't take very long to travel 4.2 miles at a speed of just over 2 miles a minute.
