Had a good nose around this on Saturday...
« on: 06 April 2009, 15:25:15 »

.....should have been looking for a new car but, had a chance to have a climb over this little beast and a good look though the electrical cabin, end cabs and plant room.

It does look very good following its recent re-paint.

3000+Hp....very nice!

And old fashioned contactor based electrics and controls with DCshunt motor traction!

To far away, this place is only 3 miles from home.....and still has 8+ miles of good main line track with a network rail connection.

They also have 3 class 20's, 2 class 08's (1 having a new cooling plant fitted), 1 class 25, 2 class 47's (one awaiting a new main bearing), 1 class 37 (being re-painted) and the 56....most of which do run!

Best of it is, you turn up and ask them, and they will let you have a good nose about!

Its quite worrying when your 3 year old son is sat in the driving seat of a 25 which has 4 coaches on the back and is sat idling!

Yeah ha ha ha very rather funny try sitting in the cab of those loco`s for 10 hrs a day then later in life losing your hearing and enjoyment of life and before you ask no BR did not issue any kind of hearing protection as this would of opened them up to admitting liabilty!!! >:(
