Ian, in my opinion we had a great meet, and I thank you for organising it, yes there were issues with the facilities, but we, and other talked about that, old skool camping. This was a big meet, and given that not everyone will be happy with everything, this is no way a reflection on you and your organisation, in my opinion.  The site was great, not really anyone to disturb, and I will be at the next one. Did you say August......

Like I said to a LOT of people, we had the option of using the pavilion on the evenings... this would be better both noise and facility wise.... Although there are no showers upstairs, the toilets are immaculate (ie, there’s plenty of bog roll, and there’s liquid soap by the sink ready to use...)

Myself and a few others did plan on going up there Sunday night as it was a bit chilly in the tent, however we didn’t want to spilt up the group so decided against the idea.

Maybe next time? Can give it a go and see what happens :question

friday was great its after friday it seemed to have gone different ways if you know what i mean

Friday night is a bit hazy for me , but I seem to recall it was the same setup as Sat (also hazy ), all meeting up in main tent  :-?

I attended as a newbie(1st ever car meet) with missuss and 2 boys and we all thoroughly enjoyed it,so much so I paid my deposit for Newent before I left.We met quite a lot of other members and everyone was friendly and polite,and we were made to feel part of the meet

When we arrived on Friday there was 2 seperate marquies,in the evening one was playing music and the other was socialising,we went socialising and everyone was great
I must say the music was fairly loud until around 1ish(but then the music stopped and we could hear LK....SNORING,bear in mind hes about 30ft away   )

Saturday was spent socially chatting and tinkering with the cars,later in the evening EP went to have run on the runway,with permission.LK,my missus and myself walked up to watch with our kids,then a few other cars came up for a few runs,no harm done.
Later that evening we all congrigated in the marques for the quiz and to socialise which we all enjoyed

We personally enjoyed the whole weekend,the boys haven't stopped asking when we are goingto the next meet

Well done to the organisers,and thanks to everyone who made us feel so welcome to be part of the OOF

Yes mate like I said, the pavilion wasn't booked for Thurs or Fri. However it was booked for Friday night till Monday (however he had to go off to Sheffield? For something so we didn’t actually get the key till Sat morning), which was the original days for the meet.

Cant remember who, but a few asked about extending the meet to include Thursday, so I agreed this with Peter - however the upstairs was NOT booked for this. Peter knows me now from both the last York meet when I saw him on multiple occasions, and also from when I've been down to see him a number of times in order to organise this meet and make it possible... Peter therefore trusted me, and gave me the key for the upstairs. He wont give the key to someone he’s never met before for obvious reasons. Like I clearly explained many times, due to me not been able to get time off work, I was unable to attend any earlier than I did.

The toilets/showers are a totally different part of the building; the pavilions function room (which is what I meant by 'facilities' as it contains a FULL kitchen, bar, tables, heaters and toilets + 230v sockets) is the entire upstairs...

Sorry how you feel Nick, but socialising is a 2 way thing,
Ann, can fully understand how you feel, Ljay has felt ignored at some previous meets too.  

I only met the pair of you on my way back from the bins on Sunday, hadnt clapped eyes on you till then, had you joined the big tents previously?  Judging my the kids, Im guessing they kept your hands full and maybe stopped you wandering round as much as some?

I know its not easy with kids, I had 1 to look after myself, who is a bit of a handful!
Its this that makes the pavillion a none starter for a lot of us,
just over a field, you can keep an eye on a tent with kids in, listen for problems etc, in a pavillion, you are just too isolated (maddie mcann)

In my experience, you just need to wander round the various work groups that change constantly, and say hello.

My problem is I havent a clue who half the people I meet are, mainly my fault, I tend to wear either a Mr Greedy T-shirt, or my personalised OOF one, so everyone KNOWS who I am, so introductions tend to be skipped.
