Broken Spark plug pics
« on: 22 June 2009, 12:05:10 »

Feeling a tad better today.

Took a walk to local tool place, bought some easi-outs.

Well, they certainly do what they say on the tin!:

Just need to check / clean out the bore as best as I can now, and pop a new plug in....

Could that be why I had a problem?

Interestingly Mark - I thought (no idea why) that Bosch made them for GM - and only bought Bosch because it was Sunday, and I needed plugs...  :-[

I thought he was referring to the easy-out, but looked like in this case, it appeared to have done the business  :-/

Mark - if you meant it's the easy out that's shite - what would you use in it's place (short of removing the head?)

Always keen to learn about useful tools!

I am just grateful that in this situation, it did it's job, and got me outta potentially big trouble!

The bore had no bits in - I popped another plug in there (threads are fine) and it runs on all cylinders now  8-)

I would write to Bosch and ask them for a replacement set of plugs, but if they're that crap I won't bother, and they'll probably only accuse me of overtightening it anyhow....

What about the big hole in the top of the sump/block, maybe i have missed some of the later threads, has this been repaired now and if so what caused it? Would have thought if there had been a hole in the sump something must have let go and the heads would have had to come off anyway, maybe i missed something  :-/
