usb 2.0 port

everytime i connect something to the laptop i get a message saying this will work a lot faster with a usb 2.0 port. have i got one built in or do i have to get one fitted ???

your usb drives (flash or disk or whatever) have 2.0 standard..and the port you connect is older standard or dont have new drivers..  anyway its not a problem only will work slow..

so how do i get a 2.0 port. ive looked on here but you have to pay for them ??

you can get them from computer shops / maplin etc.

you have a card slot in the side of the laptop?  you get get usb2 cards that will plug into that and give you the newer, faster standard (yourold ones will remain usb1 though.

can be a hell of a speed increase, depends on what you are plugging in, and how much you use them to decide if it is worth it.

Didnt think anyone still used 486 laptops anymore.   ;D ;D ;D


Depending on the make/model does it need the driver reinstalling off the setup disk.

this laptops only 3 yrs old, but i guess its out of date now then

Normally there is more than just 1 USB port.  Some times there is one on the side as well as on the back.
