This sort of input clouds the issue somewhat and is typical of those who profess from a position where the drastic results of such proposed actions, will not be felt!

Yes, and one should note that he is brainwashed advised by Jonathan Porritt and Tony Juniper, neither of whom have any scientific qualifications.

Furthermore, you will see here that they both recently campaigned for the Green Party. I always thought that, by tradition, the Royal Family stayed well clear of party politics... :( :(

Aha! So, this is what it is all about:

“I bring you good news from the U.S.," Gore said on July 7, 2009 in Oxford at the Smith School World Forum on Enterprise and the Environment, sponsored by UK Times.

“Just two weeks ago, the House of Representatives passed the Waxman-Markey climate bill,” Gore said, noting it was “very much a step in the right direction.” President Obama has pushed for the passage of the bill in the Senate.

Gore touted the climate bill, claiming it “will dramatically increase the prospects for success” in combating what he sees as the “crisis” of man-made global warming.

“But it is the awareness itself that will drive the change and one of the ways it will drive the change is through global governance
and global agreements.”

....well, well, well, are these people serious?

The desire of this whole movement towards such lofty goals should start the alarms sounding in every right thinking and well adjusted person on the planet.

A very thought provoking article Nick and I will be purchasing his book as soon as possible :y :y :y :y :y.

We definately require educated, well balanced, and fully informed input into the environmental debate before we throw the baby out with the bathwater! ::) ::) ::) 8-) 8-) 8-)

.....that unfortunate child has long since been ejected
Ms Zoom - now let's see when that was........ ah yes, when New Labour gained their second term of government >:(

I disagree Zulu, we have not actually arrived at that point....yet.......but we are fast approaching it, and that witnessed so far will seem insignificant compared what could come next ::) ::) ::) ::)  There is still time for the truth to come out before the politicians take far greater action against our every day lives 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)

I reckon that will happen when children currently being brought up and brainwashed to believe all this rubbish leave school. It was in another thread a while back about primany school children having anxiety about damaging the planet. >:( >:(

I got out just in time :o

When I was in Primary School there was talk of us facing another 'Ice Age'........ ::) ::) ::)

...is the title of a new book by Professor Ian Plimer, the Australian geologist, in which he shows that ‘anthropogenic global warming’ is a dangerous, ruinously expensive fiction, a ‘first-world luxury’ with no basis in scientific fact.

Ahhh. Music to my ears.   :) :) :)

I strongly recommend reading all six short pages of this interview.  :y :y

i look forward to reading the book Nickbat - interesting guy - personally I do believe that we've already screwed the planet way past the point where we can sort it, all the "green-initiatives" "carbon-friendly" co2 reducing legislation doesn't go nearly far enough - he's right about a couple of things tho, the west feel guilt and need to abate it by recycling and driving around in a Pious - ain't gonna amount to a hill of beans in the scheme of things  ;)

he's also correct about the polar ice caps - look back through the life of the earth and for nearly all of its history there was no ice at the poles, you only get ice in an ice age - of which we are currently in - believe it or not

i love these climate-change deniers - they're almost as much fun as the greenies - either way we don't, as a race really give a damn about the environment - basically we're obsessed by the movement of small green pieces of paper, and all our grand schemes and ideas are based on this pursuit - whichever side you can make the most money out of will win  ::)

I presume you class me as a "denier". It's a horrid term.

I do not believe that anthropogenic CO2 drives temperatures. That's all.

I think many do care about the environment...I know I do. Furthermore, there is little money on the sceptic side. There is scant research money and very little media money. You can read how difficult it was for the author to get his book published! In the end he found a struggling couple who were prepared to get it into print. He even refused to take an advance, knowing how destitute they were. Happily for all, though, the book has taken off.  :y

As a final thought, though, it's only money which will finance a cleaner world. Uncomfortable words for some, but true nevertheless.

sorry m8 - you're right - denier is a horrid term, with all the implications that entails - so if I say "enviro-sceptics" then?

genuinely tho - it takes a lot to convince me of something i believe - but you're slowly chipping away at my beliefs nickbat - i'll give you that

for that reason - i'll buy the book and read with an open mind  :y

The debate on global warming is like the flat earth debate. All those who said it wasn't were persecuted and kept quiet, the church controlloed the way people thought. They put fear into people of going to hell but they could be saved by making a donation called indulgences, there souls wil be saved then. This is very similer to the scam of man made global warming, fear will cause people to pay up.

I go to Britian alot, and the media are extremely biased in comparison to here, you are constantly bombarded with messages of doom brought on by man made global warming, but I bet you didn't hear about the speach by Al Gore to school children that was very similar to the Hitler youth.

.........any presentation from Fox News Ron needs to be heard with a degree of caution especially if it trips from the tongue of Glenn Beck, the presenter pictured above.

Overall, their editorial content is anything but fair and balanced - my comments do not impinge however on the obvious danger that Gore the Bore possesses to keep trotting out his own very biased message in an effort to ram it down the throats of those he considers to be in need of help and conversion.

Indeed Zulu, all news reports must be called into question. :y But the only news reports that I could find on Al Gores speech were by Fox news, which I dont think is a good thing :(
