Mushrooms growing on Lawn
« on: 17 July 2009, 13:17:03 »

Had that much rain lately, now for the 1st time ever have a fair crop of mushrooms on the lawn.

Anyone got any good tips for getting rid permanently?

Not much growing on my lawn after I overdid the weed and feed just before a month of no rain at all. ::)

Add to a frying pan with bacon, sizzle for a few mins then enjoy (assuming they're the edible type that is).

If so let the local hippys know and they will soon clear them up for you doing the "mushy picker boogie"  :)

I get a good selection every year. Lawn mower sorts them out. They are buggers to get rid of Jimbob.

I find they often appear some time after using selective weedkiller on the grass.

Easiest (?) solution is to run them down with the lawnmower.  They don't keep coming back in my experience.

had a feeling if they are just mowed, it will disribute the spores further, and become a bigger problem

Do it while the grass is damp and dont go online and read all the nasty things that have happened to people from strange plant spores ;D

baking powder looks to be a key, the alkaline must kill em.

ive always plenty in, cos I use it for the pond.

there are old roots where some of them are, so likely linked to them
