Concrete advice

I have been taking down my old hedge, digging up the roots and replacing it with a new fence a with concrete posts. Now the posts are 8ft tall and i've buried them 20" deep using post-crete but the last 3 I did last week are loose, the only difference between the last 3 and the first 9 was it started to rain while I was erecting them. I have just dug up one of the last posts to go in and the concrete seems easy to break, does anyone know if that is a result of the rain. Oh and i'm using 2 20kg bags of postcrete per post.

2 20 kg bags per post! Christ! how big is the hole!Anyway, the blue circle post crete or the stuff you buy in Wickes etc doesnt ever go off like concrete. Its more like a dense chalk when it's cured.If it stays wet, its usually because you didnt mix it enough when it was in the hole.

It is like dense chalk, very easy to break off the post. I have used 2 bags and a big hole due to it being very open because around the back, were opposite a school field.

Forget postcrete. Best mix is 6/2/1. 20mm ballast/building sand/cement

If It's going to get some abuse, best to use sand & ballast as Rob says. Nothing worse than looking at it later to find some little git has climbed on it and made it wonky.

But mine was easier to use ... straight out of the bag into the hole - via the wheel barrow fro a mix ....  ;D  ;D
