« on: 09 August 2009, 19:54:15 »

Any one else on here having trouble with theIr tomtom,as i have been on to the website and down loaded map updates and now it wont  find any streets or post codes , then it shuts down and reboots its self and tells me the SD card id not loaded. What a load of crap.I >:(now have to send the thing back to them for repair after spending an hour on the phone trying to reset the memory. They wont admit that the downloads are corrupted and say that it must be something that i did when i downloaded the updates.

Thats what happened to mine a few months ago.....did an update and ever since been crashing and rebooting itself.....i spent ages trying to sort it out....I notice TT have back peddled on the firmware version they are pushing out......i was supposed to send mine back for repair too.....i couldnt be arsed tho....and one of the reasons for just now buying a Garmin Nuvi  :y

PS streets and postcodes is any easy fix....but wont stop it crashing and rebooting itself

Which TomTom's are you using ?.
Are they the newest versions, as never heard about TomToms being problematic like this before.

Got an old bulky 500 which is still going strong, and never played up, and know someone who's got a TomTom1 which has been reliable.

Me thinks that TomTom is trying to put too much technology into them, as well as being SatNav's some of the models allow you to play music on them, and other stuff if I'm not mistaken ?.

Once you get your TomTom's back, maybe a good idea to buy another SD card (same make as supplied with the unit), and copy the original card onto the spare, and then use the copy one in the unit. Then if the downloads go breastup, you can format the copy card, and put the original software back onto the copy card (if that makes sense ?).

Don't know if that'll help you out ?.
