Whilst fully understanding an expletive when hitting your thumb with a hammer etc.....I`m really not a fan of 'day-to-day' profane swearing.

Not being prudish; but, there are one or two members whom seem to go out of their way to offend......

Blokey-bloke humour and banter makes OOF a very enjoyable place to visit, but please remember, there should also be a bit of respect for some of us non-swearers. ;D

I thoroughly agree with your sentiments swearing is not necessary nor is agression of which I have seen several examples of today :y

You only have to spend 5 minutes on the forums that allow any language to know that having these boundaries is a good thing. Leave all the pathetic swearing-every-other-word to the Saxo boys :y :y

I can swear with the best of them/you at appropriate times, but accept it as a challenge to not indulge in it on a public forum.
It's hard sometimes, mind!   :D

Here we go again. I never ask a veggie to eat meat. I never try to convert a non smoker but some of you can't help but tell us the harm it does, NEWSFLASH we know. I also don't knock on church doors at hours that don't suit offering leaflets on Atheism. The reason i do none of these is that i can accept differences in folk & don't feel the need to impose my beliefs on others.
Any site is viewed via a monitor as is television which is full of swearing & much more so you limit childrens/easily offended folks viewing accordingly. Swearing is a part of life & our language whether you like it or not. Some should stop sitting in judgement of others & find something more constructive to do.
It's only a word or a sound. If you don't want to swear don't, i won't ask you to so don't ask me not to.

I've managed not to swear suffice to say this holier than thou approach irritates me somewhat!!!!!

I swear a hell of a lot in general, but then again everyone in my family does and we always have don't know why, but it hasn't seemed to offend anyone, as Amigo said it's only a word. I agree with what Amego said to be honest.

I think you've missed the point, if a TV program contains bad language which offends, you can switch it off, if your reading a post on here, which may be an interesting discussion, and then come across a posting in that discussion which contains (in my opinion) unnecessary bad language, then that is wrong.

This is a car forum, first and foremost, for Omega owners, and for anyone who has an interest in cars.

Bad language could put off owners from joining.

The difference, as I see it, you pretty well know which TV programs contain bad language, so you can choose to watch, or not, as the case may be.

You can be unprepared to come across a post that contains bad language.

Are you saying that it's alright for every television program to contain foul language? Even children's, news and weather forecasts etc?

I don't think so!

There's a time and place for everything.

One little word that seem's to be lacking in the English language these days is 'RESPECT'.
