Grumpy git time and tee'ing myself up for potential abuse....   :(

OOF is primarily a blokey site for talking assorted 'dangle berries' about Omega and other Top Geary style things, there are also a number of female and junior members who also enjoy the cameraderie and banter.

Without going down the granny knows best/PC route, we request that members use language here that does not potentially offend.

A swear filter is inbuilt into OOF but, as we all can see, its easily circumvented by use of fly letters and other symbols.  Without wanting to impose draconian swear filter measures again, can we please use the language of common decency?

Not all who frequent here live/work on building sites or workshops where foul language is the norm.  At the same time, they know its there, and just prefer to talk in a decent adult fashion without resorting to playground emphasis.

ta.....   :y.

I'm not shy.....   :o

Its all about content....  There are assorted words that would make a docke blush if used in a particular context and even TB, when roused, does not resort to those.  Common sweary words are one thing, wholsesale blue profanity is quite another...    :y

I know, I often abbreviate a swear word  esspecially if peeved.

It allways depends on content and context.  Sadly it sometimes has gotton an angry overtone to which in turn has resulted in members leaving.  Shame we have these moments but I must admit it has seemed a lut better recently, dont know if the alert a moderator button has made a difference.

If we have to watch what we type & i think we should (i know certain member's little one's watch over Daddie's shoulder). Then the same should apply right across the board, ie avatars

If either of my two were looking over my shoulder when I logged in here and they saw profanities, I wouldn't be blaming anyone apart from myself for allowing them to look in the first place......because I already know the arena I'm walking in to.

That is where the NWS warning works so well, so that if Miss Vamps, for example, is looking in I know what to miss.
